  1. Hey Hey ladies and gents. Just recently somone close bought me a book I already owned, my immediate thought was to give it away on this forum to anyone in England Wales or Scotland because of shipping costs.

The first to answer these questions will win the 900 days the seige of leningrad by Harrison E Salisbury.

    1. what was the 15th Guards rifle division called before it was given the status of 'Guards'?.

    2. who was the commander of the Tirpitz for its first two years of commision?.

    Thanks.

  2. The 900 Days, The seige of Leningrad by Harrison E. Salisbury.

KNac this is one I Picked up cheap in paperback recently. Its title is almost the same as the Glanz one so I dont know if you will have seen it. It doesnt look like it has loads of maps or anything but it has over 500 pages dealing with the seige. Unfortunately I have yet to read my copy so I cant comment on it, sorry.

Hope you find what you need mate.

Dan Amazon UK has it for 6 quid

  3. well as far as I know (and many know a lot more) it goes like this...

    Pioneers are Engineers

    Jeager are Light infantry

    Auk...them, there Recon

erm grenadiers I dont really know I think those and the Fusiliers are basic infantry types.

Somtimes Companys of Inf look the same the trick is to buy a Battalion and look at the differences there. Hope I help mate oh yeah and if not try here... Fieldgrua website

  4. No sorry, mate should have been clearer, what I meant was if you could use the same process as placing rubbled bridges and rubble on fire to be able to swap a building from on fire to partially damaged (not rubbled). So if I start with a building on fire view it and then swap it for a normal building would that create the desired effect?. Unfortunately it doesnt but maybe that is the way It could be implemented in the future.

    Sorry I wasnt clear.

  5. Hi all,

I just opened up a scenario and took a look around and noticed that all buildings on fire look damaged (obvouisly), now is there any way to replace the building on fire with one not on fire and keep the damage? (al la rubbled bridges). I dont really know but it just sorta struck me as a way to maybe work around it. Has anybody tried this (I bet all things have been tried by now but yknow)

    well thanks for listening.

  6. RK, Thanks for the effort they were the scenario icons I used in cmbo and were my favourites. I dont suppose I could be cheeky and ask if you could make the finnish Icon into the Finnish Swastika like it is in someone elses mod, I foreget whos now but it would be just the ticket. Great job with the new flame, its about time somone did away with that gaint orange slug!.

Thanks for listening and the Effort.

    Dan.

  7. Could anybody help me, plus I cant find which BMP the Landmark writing is Id like to return to the original Blue. Ive searched for about the last hour but cant find anything in the forum I remember a thread not long ago with a bmp list in if you could just tell me the name of the thread.

    Thanks

    Dan

  8. I think you have to load it. first go into program files and cut and paste it from the scenarios folder to the saved games folder. now in the custom map screen load it using load game. now you can use the map any way you want. Dont know how the original designers feel but as long as you are using it for personal games I dont think theyll mind.

The above is just what I think dont blame me if im wrong.

There was a Tom Hanks hosted show on combat filmmakers a year back or so, I think I may still have it on tape. It has an interview with the guy who filmed this footage. I recall a couple of things: 1) the guy called the Panther a "Tiger" 2) the guy said that the German commander had lost his legs before climbing out of the turret, and did not survive. In fact I think he said that the commander's body was on top of the burning tank. 3) the Panther burned for a few days.

BTW, I know the site with the link is pretty odious, but I would hope the topic/footage itself isn't worthy of a lock. I find the footage to be some of the most amazing combat film I've ever seen, and after all most of us are knocking out Shermans and Panthers in CM on a daily basis.

It was on history channel not long ago. Not tom hanks the footage and it said exactly what you have written. ;)
