Pretty common on tap for gay bars....or so I am told. Didn't you notice all the men wore mustaches and most of the women as well? </font>Originally posted by mike_the_wino:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by J Ruddy:

Hey man, good to see you. Someone needs to remind us that your country isn't all about ABBA, meatballs and that crazy chef from the muppets. I hear the fjords are lovely.

Be careful what you post! :mad:Originally posted by SSgt Viljuri:Probably Keke was serving a lenghty prison sentence, and was unfortunate enough to have a way too dogmatic prison warden controlling the premises, banning the use of Internet from all inmates.

I moved closer to the Russian border, because I hate'em bastards! New job, new house, I hate them too! :mad:Originally posted by Dave H:Sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. Geographically-challenged, but nobody in Indiana was ever called a hillbilly for the simple reason that Indiana lacks respectable hills. You're thinking of our neighbors to the east and southeast who infest the Appalachians. Be advised that where you are concerned I use the word "thinking" with great hesitation and in more figurative terms than in a literal sense.
Can you tell us what you've been up to for the last few years since you disappeared or is that classified? [/QB]

I think I single-handedly killed this thread. Mwuahhaahaaa!!!

How cute. If this insult is directed at me, just read my posts and tell me where these "extreme views " are presented. Finnish front in 1944 is a "forgotten battle" in eastern front historiography outside Finnish borders. Some tidbits of facts here and there about it when eastern front is discussed doesn't hurt anybody.Originally posted by Mikko H.:And I also want to take this opportunity to disassociate myself from the more extreme views of my fellow countrymen. Not all Finns are hypernationalistic tossers smarting over old wrongs.

Well, the Soviets tried to bomb the city into oblivion in 1944, but thanks to the extensive counter-intelligence work they were bluffed to bomb the island of Vuosaari, which was made to look like the city from the air.Originally posted by Ivan Drago:If the attempt was anything more then half hearted, for example if Finalnd was strategically important for some strange reason, the result would have been Helsinki looking like Berlin circa 1945. Buildings reduced to rubble and Soviet troops going on a raping spree of massive proportions.
Also the mines of Petsamo produced 75% of all the nickel for the German war machine, so you have your strategic importance right there. Don't know really what the strategic importance was in 1939, but you have to ask the Russians why they were so eager to invade another small nation after the Baltic States. There are always excuses, of course.
-
To be fair, Soviet Union didn't exactly get its ass kicked, but against a nation of 3.5 million people only managed minor victories (in CM terms) in both occasions. Also, if Soviet Union had an opportunity to fully commit its forces against this minor nation, there's no doubt how it would have ended.
On a related note Finnish national ice hockey team just beat Russians at Moscow 2-1. Sweet.

Pretty well for an ignoramus.Originally posted by Rob Ross:Well if I was being contrary as usual on this ******* board I'd say something about Finland being the only Axis nation to never apologise, but instead revel, in its role.
For a closing shot I'd mention that they surrendered twice and accomplished nothing aside from helping to kill millions of innocent civilians in Leningrad.
No wonder they are proud...How am I doing?

And the Finns did it again in 1944. Isn't it amazing?Originally posted by Ivan Drago:Your only claim to fame as a nation is repulsing a half-hearted invasion by a barbarous greedy tyrant in a useless land-grab who first crippled his own army by decimating all of its skilled commanders and officers.

Who else would order a Pz-IVh, with infantry riding on it, to charge full ahead against 3 T-34/85s? Don't blame the gunner, maggot. :mad:Originally posted by Axe2121:You know what I love? And, to top it all off, when the T-34 rightfully caps his ass, all nine grenadiers riding shotgun are liquified. So useless gunner = 13 casualties.
