  1. There once was a random battle generator that someone made for CMBO which actually worked well in picking the parameters for fair battles.

It choose the type, weather, etc.

    Really cool little device.

    Haven't seen one for CMBB.

Anyway, a friend of my play small quick battles with computer pick, and I have to say that most of the time, one of us gets screwed over. The Russians always seem to get heavy/medium tanks and the Germans get halftracks. Nothing like having an ISU-2 tear up some trucks.

    Your review is not fair.

You knew what you were downloading. I believe the description is very descriptive of what to expect.

"Designed so the end result, no matter who wins, is high percentage casualties for both sides, along with carnage and sheer, unadulterated chaos."

Whether you are tactically challenged or seeking an avenue to parade your challenging tactics does not matter. If you want to review a scenario keep your personel opinions out of it please.

I just don't see how his review was unfair. I think that this kind of thinking is exactly why most don't review scenarios at the depot. Which, IMHO, is the one site that will constantly pump new life into the CD.
  3. I am and have been running 1.0, so maybe that's it. I'll look into it, and thanks for the prompt response!

Looks like that was the solution as I was able to have a scenario that I knew was created 1.0 appear on my screen.

Thanks again, and if I run into future problems, I'll keep you informed.

  4. Ok, trying to make a long story short.

A friend of mine just got CMBB and just started playing some PBEM games so he didn't patch right away. The other night he called me and asked if I would play, I had version 1.01 so I knew I had to revert back to the old one. Simple enough, I ran the installer again and let it overwrite my newer version. We were able to play a TCP/Ip game without a problem.

Then I tried to extract some zip files into my scenario folder. No luck! They won't show on the screen, and when I look in the folders themselves, say the scenario one, I see the title but can't access it. I have tried to extract to both the saved games folder and the scenario folder with no luck.

So, I deleted everything this time and started over from scratch, installing the game as if I had just purchased it. Wouldn't you know it, I still have the same problem! I am unable to extract zip files/scenarios into my folder! What am I doing wrong? I have never had this problem before.

Any help would be welcomed, and thank you in advance.

  5. This is an extremely interesting story to say the least. I would love to hear more when you dig up the facts MasterGoodale.

Reminds me of two things: all the photos my Grandfather had during his time in Europe with the 1120th Combat Engineer Group. Although much different than your find, each one he had held its own story which he was more than willing to share during the last years of his life. My wife, oldest son, and I would look very forward to those visits and those stories. The one's he really liked to concentrate on were the funny ones; ones where the whole company got the ****s and so forth, but he mixed in some serious ones as well. I remember when I was much younger and niave I asked him if he ever had to shoot his gun. He paused, his face became stern and deliberate. He simply replied, "Well, I was in Europe during the war." Dumb questions deserve short replies.

The other thing this reminds me off his the episode of BOB when Spiers is out for that personal photograph collection at the nest. Quite intriguing.

I'm very grateful that you have taken the time to share this story with us as it has brought back many memories for me of those times I spent with my Pap and the stories that he shared with me. Thanks again.
