I'm not sure if it will help Hubert, but my opponent on this game (Ken) was mentioning that he wasn't, and isn't prompted for a password.

The new zip file worked however I was surprised at the application just disappearing without it throwing an error indicating an invalid file. Hopefully we won't have to only use .zip.

Hello, I have a problem where trying to load a PBEM file, the SC application dies without any feedback whatsoever. Any help that you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks,
Reade
Version. SC 1.06
Platform: Win XP professional
Problem: When entering password for Axis, the application dies and just *poof* disappears without any messages. No event viewer details/logs
File: ReadeVSKen-002.sav (available on request)
Tests:
1. Loaded up file. When prompted for password, entered password and application dies.
2. Loaded file. When prompted for password, entered wrong passwords. I get a failed login. When finally enter valid password, app fails.
3. Created test of new PBEM game and tested cycling through turns. All works well.
4. Reapplied patch 1.06 and re-ran test 1. with same results.
5. Overwrote file in PBEM directory and tested from received email. Same results.
Is this an application error, invalid (garbled) file, etc?

Great, I got your email Ken and I'll send you a move tonight. Thanks for the tip about the opponent finder, I never noticed it before.Originally posted by kenfedoroff:ryddle
You might have better luck finding opponents in the Opponent Finder Forum.
Pick a side and send me a move (E-mail in profile).
I like the 1939 campaign and options used for SC Ladder, even if I play for fun.

Hi all,
I ended picking up SC b/c I've been on a bunch of evil business trips lately and my laptop can't handle CMBB/CMBO... and I'm quite enjoying SC.
I've only played 4 or 5 full versions of the 'full-meal deal' starting with axis attack on Poland. And I'm interested in hooking up a PBEM or two.
Anyone who is interested, drop me a line. I can usually manage 1 turn per day.
Thanks,
Reade (aka Ryddle)
btw, I have no clue what is considered 'gamey' in SC. If you are in for a PBEM, please let me know what is/isn't in scope for game play. I'm very new, but know that people can get quite riled when they believe that one isn't representing 'historical' accuracy (according to their views).

Section 3-4 Guys,
Sorry for the delay... I'm back from my business trip and I should have my life together enough tonight to pick up where we left off.
Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of CMBB?
Thanks,
Reade (aka Ryddle)

Guys, just a quick update. I've been called out of the office to a customer site for a week starting tomorrow. I won't be back until Feb 5th. I won't be able to process any turns during that period.
Thanks,
Reade (aka Ryddle)

Treeburst, do you have an example or template of an AAR that is of a good size and has the right content? e.g. something from a previous ROW toruney perhaps?
I've seen plenty of AAR's of varying complexity, but an example of what you & the design team consider helpful would be... ummm... helpful.
Many thanks!

Did a comm check with Tourney 3, Section 4.
Souljah1 mentioned that he has to drop out...
The other fella's are on line but no response from Frenchy yet (understandable b/c I only posted the e-mails yesterday and it's the silly season)
Looking forward to the start of the tourney.

Got it in Victoria yesterday. I was in such a rush i just ripped it open and grabbed the book & CD. I didn't notice anything from Canada Customs. I better find that package and find out lest they try to take it back. (I'd like to see them try though)Originally posted by Little_Black_Devil:Well - I actually got my copy today!!
It also installed without a hitch!!
However Customs charged me $15 (GST,PST & Handling).
Did anyone else get nailed for this - or do you have to live in Manitoba to recieve ths "extra special care"?

if only we could bribe canada customs to expidite CMBB...

Many apologies if I missed a posting about a vacation or somefink.

Depending on the context, I would also consider targeting a 81mm FO to land smoke around the KT. Then use your lighter and quicker assets and get into position. Of course, if he's in a keyhole position, or just exposed from one, he can reverse and this approach won't help too much. Again, depends on the context....

Thanks for the tips guys.

Ok, ok, I don't have a technical problem per se, however I want to avoid one.
It turns out that through a little bit of happenstance (i.e. begging the wife) that I will be able to upgrade my home-office PC on September 20th...or whenever CMBB arrives.
My question is. What video card should I get? I've heard of problems with not being able to see fog with some cards drivers, etc. i.e. what is used at BFC so the developers know that they have everything working %100?
Hell, I might as well go all out, I just have to be able to do 1600x1200 @ >100Hz for when I code, and around the same for CMBB.
Any suggestions?

Axis Raiders and mining ports?
in Strategic Command - GLOBAL CONFLICT
Posted
Hi, I haven't been able to find this question in any thread so perhaps I'm being overly pedantic in reading the flavour text. I don't have the exact phrasing, but the Germans get a dialogue box on turn two of the 1939 scenario indicating that "Axis Surface Raiders may now raid costal waters"? The text goes on to indicate that all available shipping should raid supply routes and to "mine" the harbours of Halifax, Melbourne, etc.
What exactly is mining the harbour and how does one do it? I've placed my surface ships in the locations where the freighter symbol is and it diminishes the resources in that location. (e.g. 31,31 by trinidad). Is this what is meant by "mining", or is there some other special function available to certain ships (or under certain conditions)?
TIA,
Ryddle
