  1. I'd offer the suggestion that the player can designate to a unit a single waypoint during each orders phase for them to fall back to if they come under fire.
Or even simpler, is to have them go back to where they came from.Follow their own waypoints back!

Whats even more frustrating, is I give them orders to make their way back to cover, and they ignore it and continue off on there path to death.

Most casulties are from the chicken dance of death.

  2. I am sad to see, but not overly surprised, to see one of the biggest AI flaws, is still present in the 3rd go round of this game.

I am talking about the chicken dance(CMBO) , or probably better described as the chicken crawl in CMBB and CMAK. This is when the unit is looking for cover and seeks what it thinks is the best cover. Even if it means going straight at the enemy in open ground, when just 2 ft away is a nice comfy foxhole or hill to hide behind.

And Im not talking only about units that have broken, panicked or routed.

If there is only one patch to this game it has to be this one, as it is the only real one that stands out and ruins the play of the game.

  3. Or commonly known as a bug. Unless I read the manual wrong, Onboard mortars are able to make use of TRPs, even without LOS. My mortars, NEVER moved from original position. They will not fire on the TRP. These are Russian 50mm mortars.

I am also curious about one other thing I have noticed. It says the crew has binoculars. Then why cant it see across open ground any farther than a non-binoccular equipped platoon?

Doh! Nevermind. I know why now. Ididnt see it, and never did the enemy. My Sharpshooter hiding in the TRP zone! The TRP graphic is covering up almost all of the sharpshooter. I can just barely see his head.

But I still think the binoculiar thing is interesting.

  4. I am hitting it from the front. I had another 47mm that had a rear shot. It was showing"kill none" , so I didnt even bother using that tank.

It is a Russian wooden MG bunker, and as of last turn it was still returning fire.

Another point worth noting is, My Panzer IV, wont even target it, unless I specifically tell it to.

    .

I am hitting it with a German 47mm, and a 75mm. I have hit it at least 20 times now. I have seen "hit, no damage", "partial penetration", "penetration", "gun hit". When I target it, it keeps saying "kill, very low" and "kill low".
  6. Does repeated hits on a wooden bunker weaken it. Or is each hit considered as if it were never hit? My thinking on this, is if you keep hitting a wooden bunker it will eventually break. And if this is the case the percentage of penetrating , should increase over time, with repeated hits.

Curious to know if this is how the game handles this. Or is it a waste of time and ammo, to keep pounding a wooden bunker, if the hits wont eventually penetrate.

  7. Well Im no rocket scientist, but if I had a TRP coordinates, and all I wanted to do was move it a liitle from there , I think I could figure it out, even if I didnt have LOS. And when they send the shells over, and I hear them dropping half a mile to the east I think I would know my math was wrong, and would call it off, instead of wasting all the ammo. Seems that the AI is giving the player the reins in this case, but decides to think for the player in other situations.

And come on, your telling me you sat down and read the manual 3 times before playing. You would be no fun at xmas morning! ;)

  8. I agree that duds should be modelled. And i would expect it to be more than one in a thousand. MG are modelled to JAM, so why not model duds.

I found this http://maic.jmu.edu/journal/4.2/Features/ww2/ww2.htm website that mentions up to 30% of ammunition were duds. And 10% duds with todays ammunition.

maybe it would be difficult to find exact dud rates for every ammunition out there. but it is just as much a bad excuse to not model it , knowing there were plenty of duds.

  9. OK, The straw has broke the camels back. :)

I have to mention what I feel are LOS/spotting bugs. And curious to know if they are fixed in the next release.

    1. I normally use view3 or view4. I noticed sometimes that when Im "just so close" to get LOS in these views, that all I have to do is go to view1, and viola! LOS! It should not matter what view your using as to whether you achieve LOS or not.

    2. I have had a few times, most noticably at night. Where I can spot a unit BEHIND a vehicle, but NOT the vehicle. If you ask me, a 9 foot tall tank should be noticed , if I can see the unit directly BEHIND it!

    3. This is the straw. I just had a situation, DAY,NO FOG, NO RAIN, NO SMOKE. My tank, unbuttoned, with shreck and MG42 on top, sitting still. They dont spot the Stuart until it RAMS them, from the front!!!! Not to mention the full platoon running out in the open in front of the Stuart, which is shooting at them.

  10. OK, so it can damage it then. But has anyone else seen this?

It cant be too common. I have targeted tanks many times with a .50, hoping to kill the TC, which is only partially effective. But never damaging a gun barrel.

I guess what makes it even more frustrating in this game is, I had at least 6 HMG42 targeting a M20 at less than 50m , and I couldnt even get it to button up! Damn gamey M20s! ;)

When playing as Germans I pick them maybe half the time or a little less, and use vanilla infantry the rest of the time

Now, if I were buying KTs in every game I played, or in even half of them, that would be a problem, but that is a separate issue.

    Now I'm confused.
