  1. On the other hand you could make the 2 North Atlantic subs full strength with 12 points as per this campaigns staring research level. 12 points lets them have a much better chance at surviving an attack and also gives the option of actually attacking the allied navy thats hunting you down. The allies would need no less then 5 to 6 ships to assure a kill and this can leave the allied player open to a aggresive Axis use or thier Baltic navy.

  2. My guess is this.... SC has had a memory leak problem which was supposed to have been fixed in patch 1.04 I think. WinMe also has some serious memory related issues. The combination of these is whats the problem. I had to rebuild my brothers pc with Win98se on it and I havnt had any lockups or problems with SC. Keeping one old pc around is pretty useful smile.gif

  3. the gulf war mod is all but done. the priniciples for this piece of work were called up from reserve status which had a drastic effect on completion. I can tell you tjis, Ive played the beta on the maps made for the mod and its a lot of fun as long as you stick to mostly infantry..the armor is just to much! And as always any time you need info or help just ask :D

  5. Hey Logan smile.gif the 1946 mod is on the back burner while the team that created the CC5 Gold-Juno-Sword mod finish the last patches. This is some great piece of work. Heres a quick breakdown by CC version:

CC5 GoldJunoSword Mod : Highly recommended

    CC5 Okinawa Mod: Highly recommended

    CC5 Stalingrad : incomplete

CC5 Kursk : incomplete (and my personal baby)

CC5 MarketGarden Mod : very buggy stick with CC2

    CC4 : why bother tongue.gif

CC3 Real Red : highly recommended

    CC3 Panzerjager2 : my highest recommendation

CC3 West Front : recommended but I think the data favors the allies a bit to much

CC3 Beached Whale : a WF submod and recommended

    CC3 1946 mod : incomlete

CC3 Vietnam Mod : highly recommended

CC3 Great War mod : very interesting but the scale seems wrong

There are also over 550 custom maps, a score of campaigns, more ops and battles then you can shake a Pz-3 at and various sound patches

All this and more can be found at: www.close-combat.net

  6. I do vaugly remeber a ComradeLoganov, the Russian named players usually catch my attention because there are so few ..... everyone wants to be SS, go figure. I certainly hope you still have your Close Combat cd's cause we have a ton of mod work done now. So stop back in sometime we're all still there. The lobby is a great place for matching up games, any game.

Its also good to know theres someone whos more anal then me smile.gif Even though the icons arnt used I had fill them in with something to.

  7. I dont recall the name but Im interested to know were and when you knew me. Hope it was a good memory smile.gif Id caution you before spendinf to much time redoing the minor allies icons as they dont really progress with any tech tree. Army, corps and some ships are all need be done. Id also ask that you view the work in game, the pic on the site is a rather high compression jpg and imae quality suffers. Come to think of it, I need to make some of the backrounds darker.......back to work tongue.gif

  8. For the life of me I cant figure out whats wrong. The game seems to randomly lockup forcing me to do a hard reboot. Typicly the lockup happens when I try to use the drop down menu for reinforcement or transport/operate. Sometimes the game goes for several turns with no problem and sometimes it locks up after hardly an order is given. Ive tried reinstalling and repatching. Ive erased the saved games and started from scratch. Its making the game very hard to complete when Im scared of giving the most basic of commands. Are there programs that Eiffel dosnt get along with that I might have open or on my HD? Im at a complete loss here :(

  9. Hey Andre I otta leave today for work out of town for a week but when I get back Id really like to try a tcp/ip game. We can hook up in the cc3 lobby if ya want, a lot of the old farts you remeber are still there. Come to think of it, Im unaware of any other game lobby were its so easy to pick up a game..any game.

  10. Ive finished my replacement graphics for the unit icons and have set them up for download. You can find them here: Star's Site

Due to it being geocities and their bandwidth restrictions, please check back if you cant download the file. Hope you enjoy it and thanks to Hubert & Co. for leaving the game open enough to mess around with it :D

  11. I think there is a much simpler soultion that could even work its way into a patch for SC.

When a player researches anti-tank technology they are basicly improving their infantry units. When this level of research reaches the value of 3 all corp and army units become amphibious and can reload themselves onto transports for a slight added cost.

Say you have to spend 50 mpp to transport a normal army group. If anti-tank research has reached L3 and this unit is used in a failed landing or is on a hex like Ireland then it would cost 75 to reload the army. Of course the cost would be vaired according to the level of antoi-tank and industrial tech reached.

This amphibious rating would not affect HQ or Tank units. To reload these onto transports you would still need a harbor. This method restricts the gameyness of being able to land and reload anywere. The need for at least L3 in AT also makes this ability a non-option for early game rushes.
