  1. Is anyone having problems logging in?

I click on login and get an error message with no opportunity to enter an id and password.

Message reads: "You are not authorized to perform that operation. Use your broweser's BACK button to try the operation again, or click HOME to return to the main menu."

  2. Tanks-A-Lot:

Could you create a few theme buildings to replace the church? I've atached a mini Reichstag (based on IronX's fine work) as an example.

I'm thinking a few government buildings, train station, freight/munitions depot, large farm, etc.?

It would give a focus for fixed objective type scenarios.

Also, do you have winterized versions of your earlier CMBO small buildings?

  3. Thanks too. I'm debating whether to buy new PC or go te route of a new vid card. After all I'm running at 475 Mhz. I'm wondering if the larger scenarios be playable?

If I buy a new card, you mentioned uninstall my existing SiS driver before installing the new. If I install the video drivers, won't the display go dark? Could you give me a step-by-step approach?

    Is it:

    1.) Insert new card?

    2.) power up?

3.) Unistall existing drivers for SiS?

    4.) Install new drivers?

    5.) Fire up CMBB!

Hey Bailey, looks like were both in the DC area. Let me know if you find a decent deal on a PCI card. I'll probably check Best Buy today.

  4. Hey guys. I'm in a similiar situation. While I'm not using a laptop, it appears my 8M Video Card won't do the job. The interface shows up but it hangs on the "Loading 3D Graphics". I've tried 800 x 600 and also resized all the significant bitmaps by 50%. Still no luck.

    1) Can you confirm it's my vid card.

    2) If so, I assume it's AGP in that it says "AGP Texture Acceleration Enabled". If so, is it a simple matter of pulling the video card out of the machine and inserting a new one and the computer will auto detect it? Or should I defer to Best Buy / CompUsa tech support?

    System specs:

Well said. For me, I'd revert to an old Apple II and Computer Ambush with the grease pencil before I buy a game machine. As for Sony, Nintendo and MS. No thanks, don't forget what Hasbro did to SL.

    Well Steph:

Might I suggest if you don't care for the how the German Commander survived his ordel, you should pass on CMBB. I for one look forward to the umber Finn Commander who I understand walks through snow and ice in his underwear and takes Reds out at at ratio of 10:1. ;)

    As for $45 bucks, (looks left, looks right, doesn't see M, M, K, S or C) I'd pay ***** that for CMBB. :D

Seriously, yes. It looks odd when not only does that Panther turn into a single soldier, but it turns into the Jolly Green Soldier as the unit marker for vehicles are oversized!

However, if you can condition yourself into accepting the oversized soldier (in lieu of a star, cross, etc.) the overall visual realism is improved on the battlefield. This is especially true for massive infantry engagements. Note the Mod marker looks just fine when representing concealed infrantry. Conversely, I'll admit, the marker wouldn't be a good fit for a heavy duty armor engagement with few or no infantry.

I've sent Tom some screenshots that better portray the generic markers versus the soldier markers. Perhaps he'll post them.

Yes, one could also go the extreme FOW route and paint them pink as previously suggested. However, that misinforms you as to real information that should be available to your soldiers (previously spotted unit ducking out of sight).

I'm still testing it. I'm not totally sold but I'm getting close.

  8. Dorosh:

    You've utterly done it! :D

Take your unit marker idea one step further and convert them into single soldiers. When they go into concealed mode, they'll appear as a single soldier. No longer does one have to area fire on an abstract unit marker. You can now area fire on a foot soldier that appears like any other.

I'll send you a test and see what you think.

    The drawbacks are as follows:

    1) Vehicles appears as oversized foot soldiers when they go concealed.

    2) On some steep terrain, it looks like the unit is floating when viewed from the eye level perspective.

    3) From the top-down view, the unit looks a bit goofy.
