  1. Wow, the forum is dead?

CM on a tablet is just a dream come true for many "true" wargamers, considering the lack of any decent wargames on these platforms currently (especially on Android devices). Why put so few efforts in such a promising project?

The tutorial, however funny, should IMHO at least mention a few more basics, such as the fact that the color of the Line of Sight indicates the firepower.

Many questions remain unanswered. For instance, is it possible to crawl in the game? It looks like you can only go prone when stationary, i.e. when moving you must do so standing.

  2. I remember you could kind of buy suprises in the original game's campaigns (in 8th Air Force, at least).

This included bad weather, FLAK, and several other things. This appears to have been dropped in the PC game. Is that correct or will it be included in the final version (or in an extension at a later time)?

  3. Hi,

I just registered and started playing DiF. It's just as good as the original tabletop game, congratulations! The game is quite stable on my machine so far. smile.gif

    Question:

    1. Is there a way of knowing the approximate skill level of an opponent's pilots before fighting him?

    2. Assuming I challenge a superior team, do I get bonus experience points for winning against him? Does het get less experience if he wins?

  4. From a commercial point of view, it's obviously up to BFC to update its product so it meets ATI's requirements. After all, quite a few of us use ATI cards.

I'm very disappointed to see that in the 3rd game in the series no effort has been made to fix this, and even more considering that we have to pay a "full-game" price for what appears to be more like a scenario pack. Discounts for CMBO and/or CMBB owners would've been more than welcome.

I think I'll refrain from buying it this time.

  5. Hello comrades! :)

I've bought the CDV version of CMBB and the manual doesn't give much information about the effects of advance / assault.

It just says that troops using advance / assault are supposed to be slower than running units, but they make use of available cover and suppressive fire.

Does that mean that advance / assault is useless in open ground? Which terrain gives a defensive bonus for units using advance / assault?

What about this "suppressive fire" stuff? Does it mean that it lessens the risk of incoming defensive fire? Is ammo expended? Does one have to target a specific area? Is there any other benefit of using this type of movement?

By the way, I've seen references to a 1.1 patch, but I haven't seen any patch on this website. What does that mean?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi there, I understand this is a demo and the documentation isn't yet ready, but it's hard to get to enjoy the game when one doesn't have a clue about important things. Currently, I'm under the impression it's too simplistic.

    - what's the difference between an army and a corps?

    - how does that "blitz" thing work?

    - what about supply?

    - what about HQs? do they have a range?

    - it looks like units never retreat (i.e. you must wipe them out if you intend to advance)!

    - etc.

  7. Thanks for your input. I suppose there is something wrong with my motherboard / video card combination. The problem is: when I upgrade, what reliable solution should I buy?

Regarding the problem, I don't experience blue screens. The game just freezes and some graphical bugs appear.

I have the latest drivers for both my BIOS, video card, network card and sound card + the only IRQ shared is by my network card and my video card (and there is nothing I can do about it, anyway, it's not supposed to be a problem).

  8. Sorry, guys, but I have Project IGI (which is heavily 3D-accelerated) running just fine on my PC. I must assume something is wrong in CM's code, then.

Maybe the next patch will fix it, who knows?

It MAY be a voltage problem, but I have no idea how to modify that on my card (the manual is terrible, and I HATE having to start messing around with jumpers and that sort of thing). Besides, how could it be that it works fine otherwise?

Thanks for your help, but that's getting all too technical for a simple player like me... I'll just reinstall CM on my new PC when I upgrade... and pray!
