It's fu*king close to water

  2. I was just wondering about mixing forces when playing the Allies. What is the propper etiquette on mixing forces i.e. can you have french tanks with british paratroopers and American arty - I know you can in the game but what is the oppinion of this knowledgeable board? - Was it historically possible, do you think it's alright.

It was unfortunate he was born just those few thousand kilometers away - he would have made a great addition to our country smile.gif

I for one will answer anyone about living in the United States if they will answer questions about living in there own countries. Like: What is the drinking age in Australia and Germany?

I don't know the German age. But in Australia the LEGAL age is 18 yrs and our driving age is 16 (which to me seems weird that we can drive before we can drink).

BTW (just to steer this away from banning territory). what is the age in the USA?

Hey Phil, thanks, I think this thread is ever so much better now that cool stuff is getting talked about -- I hope it reaches a thousand. We are learning about each other's culture and that is way cool.

It could become the new: Clean and Educated Cesspool smile.gif

  7. Well just to answer the question why Australia is so good, is because we have the Leadership of Fatso (the battlers prince) who has motivated us all to win. smile.gif - To those outside of Australia or who have no knowledge of Roy & HG this will make no sense whatsoever (serves you right for not being an Aussie).

BTW. Combatboy, you are now my personal hero - you are like a ringmaster to this circus post.

You are quite right... the USA's contributions were minor. In fact, I doubt the USA was even needed in the war...

    frown.gif

Seriously, that's like arguing that because you have 10 men with me having 10,000 and you sent 4 off to battle and I sent 2,000 and then you then claimed you were "more" contributing because you sent 40% and I only 20%.

    Go figure.

WOAH. Calm down Cav - I wasn't trying to take anything away from the Americans - without them the war would have gone on for many more years than it did. I was just trying to say that Australia was not some backwater country that didn't contribute their fair share - I was highlighting how well we did fight, and the lengths that we went to.

  10.
quote:
Originally posted by CavScout:

As for other countries, yes there were others. There were many on the Allied side. One has to look obejectivly at their contributions.

[This message has been edited by CavScout (edited 09-15-2000).]

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this: that Australia didn't commit many troops compared with USA? In fact proportionally to our population (approx 10 million 41')we commited quite a large proportion, more in total than India contributed - despite their large population.
