  1. This is great I have been watching the development cycle for about 20 years now Avalon Hill had a crack at it back in the 80's ,,,then came 360 in the 90's,,but the processors and S/W were not their yet. My hat is off to both Teams for making a GREAT LEAP FORWARD on this great sim,,now it gives me the feel of something ,like being in the thick of battle ,,it makes me feel like I am in the battle.

    Well Done,

    Scott the Sargon Johnson.

  2. Three-Sixty Pacific, Inc.

    Overview

Three-Sixty Pacific was founded in late 1980's by avid wargamers and military history enthusiasts. Their games, although by no means selling like hot cakes, were always thoughtfully designed, with a high level of realism rarely seen in wargames, user-friendly mouse-driven interface, clean graphics, and excellent tutorial and on-line help files. While fellow wargaming houses such as QQP and SSI diversifies into non-historical and hypothetical wargames, Three-Sixty stuck to their first love: historical wargames, for all in-house efforts. After some diversification efforts in the late 80's - early 90's when the company published several action games, Three-Sixty developed and published Harpoon - a masterpiece based on Larry Bond's tabletop wargame that was inducted into Computer Gaming 150 Best Games of All Time and is still regarded today as THE best naval simulation ever produced.

Despite the considerable commercial success of Harpoon and Atomic Games' V for Victory Series, complete failure of lavishly-produced but esoteric Theatre of War and lack of funds brought the company to its knees in early 1994.

  3. Buildings are present in the game, but unfortunately the developers were never able to really get the infantry to use them properly. This means that infantry cannot set-up in buildings. Snipers can’t fire from church steeples, machine guns can’t set-up from inside houses and soldiers can’t take cover in basements when indirect fire comes down on them. While not a total game stopper, it is a real problem in a game that is trying to present total realism. If there is one real patch that the team really needs to work on, it is this problem. I don’t care how they fix it, but they need to fix the inability to get into buildings. Cover and concealment are the biggest protectants of the infantry and eliminating buildings is tantamount to leaving them hung out to dry.
