  1. A friend of mine had to wipe PC Tools Threatfire from his Win 7 64. After that the demo ran just fine. Prior, with Threatfire installed - no go.

And yes, you have to deinstall it , turning it off doesnt help ...

    Thank you Scheer.

Had the same problem, on XP.

Turning off didn't work, had tried that.

    Deinstall, reboot, one happy puppy.

    I owe you a beer.

  2. Standards are fine - but cost of houses will rise...and less people will be able to afford houses..

Maybe skilled people at hometurf can compete then when higher standards are set - but Chinese (or whoever) are capable of producing quality as well - not as cheap as their cr@p stuff but likely still cheaper than produced on hometurf.

At then end buyer decides - and often buyer goes for cheapest available.

Be glad you don't have those standards...

A little house in Switzerland starts at 600'000$ but average near a city is rather 900'000. Nothing fancy. But build to quality and lot of regulations and standards fullfilled.

Yet lots of products used are imported from far away.

In the end I think it preserves a few jobs - but on the other hand much less people own houses, so less construction, less jobs there again...

  3. One night I was asleep in my bunk but woke up with what seemed a cold, hard button in my mouth...

    Yeah.

Spat it out, vaporised it with a heel squish and scrubbed and scrubbed my teeth. I stopped myself when I actually had the can of nerve gas in my hand wondering if it would work as toothpaste.

    Duhhh...

Reminds me pouring luke warm coffee in a cup in the kitchen in Manila - in darkness, didn't turn on the lights.

The cockroach obviously didn't mind that coffee as when taking a good gulp I had this scrabbling thing in my mouth...

Took me a long time to clean that kitchen when coffee, mug, coffee can (which I still was holding in the other hand) and cockroach went all over the place...

Bastard escaped on top of it...

  4. Nah, for colorful scenery shooting bank goes into 'vivid +1', for rainy days or portraits it goes on 'neutral +1'...

Polarizer filter saturates colors as well in certain situations.

But overall it is much as it looks. Looked the same when I was using good old Velvia slide film...

And when I just sit there and enjoy the scenery, with a cold beer in my hands...

  5. Last year I sure missed...just got back from Asia.

That one is Ko Kood, one of the few islands with relatively low key tourism. Large island, many bays and beaches, few foreign tourist, mainly Thais coming over for weekend.

    East coast, near Cambo border.

  6. No thanks, I prefer peaceful holidays...just got back from one.

    Boring stuff like this:

But that webpage is pretty funny and I wouldn't be surprised if you would find a few mad ones who would sign up for such a cruise!

Would actually be a pretty good way to catch those pirates. Innocent looking small freighters or yachts...equip to the gills with commandoes and guns...

Q-ships they called those traps for the German subs in WW I, no?

  7. Got a problem with my webpage, seems someone put some invisible links in the code there.

Changed passwords for webhost, ftp protocol, then uploaded clean files from PC. Files on webspace seem to be fine now, no more invisible links.

However when i view them in any web browser (after clearing cache) they still show up...

Here's the page, the links are all at the bottom of the source code (<!-- link ads start --><DIV style):

    http://www.tools4fools.info/

Any ideas how to get rid of those links?

  8. Tried the demo yesterday and lots of things happened while I was struggling with the new camera and controls.

One thing that happened (and turned out lucky for me...) was that one of my T-72's got hit and destroyed by two M-1's.

Then my second T-72 bumped into it from behind.

Now the two M-1's continued shooting at the already wrecked T-72.

It seemed they tried shooting through the destroyed T-72 to get the one still alive...

Wasted their entire ammo on it...

  9. to include it no matter how big the file size was.
    size does matter....be sure!

this Forum is FAR more civil and productive than most other game Forums out there

He's living about 20 minutes from my grandma's home
20 minutes driving? That can be quite far - depending on the speed.

I mean with someone who (almost) runs over a Focke-Wulf while driving ont he Autobahn. And A Focke-Wulf goes over 600km/h...

    Sundays are rough.

  10. - Sun rises in the east
    Sure about that?

There was a place - little bar - in Manila where I would swear it was not.

But then maybe it had something to do with the consumption of intoxinating drinks...

And yes, the guy seems to miss the car quite a few times...

That maybe explains why he went so close...

  11. it will cause cumulative damage through spalling, fracturing to the armour plate, rivets popping etc.
That CAN happen but does not have to.

A shot can crack armor plate if it's brittle armor indeed. Tigers was not brittle, among best of WWII. Did you ever see that pic of 17prd that got stuck in Tiger frontal armour? No cracking either despites almost penetrated.

    Tiger is welded, not rivets.

Not every non-penetrating hit does cause automatically spalling either.

Cumulative damage? Automatically? Doubt that. It isn't as simple like 'after 12 75mm hits armour plate has enough cumulative damage and round no 13 will penetrate' or 'after 51,5 40mm hits armour plate has enough cumulative damage and round no 52 will penetrate'

IF you hit plate repeatedly in quick succession at same spot then maybe yes (depending on the gun youuse; a 0,50 caliber won't do...). That's maybe what vulcan does, yes.

But did you hit that tank in quick succession on the very same spot?

If your 'cumulative damage' model would be valid, why would the Germans have had problems with the T-34 then using their 37mm Pak? Just take 3 of them and with theri good ROF knock out those peksy T-34's.

    Obviously didn't work...

    How about the KV-I?

  12. Looking at the Panzerjäger IV in that picture (and I am nut sure if it is my eyesight or if the picture is too blurry): Is that a muzzle brake on the L70?? So far I have only seen pictures of the PzIV/70 without a muzzle brake...
If you guys see the same pic I see in the first post then:

    -where is the PzIV/70?

    - I see an Elephant to the left, correctly with a muzzle brake.

    - right is a TigerI

    - Center is a PZIV with the L48 (I guess) and skirts. Not sure if the F2 hat skirts, didn't the come with the G?

    - One thing that is sure the PzIV is too big compared to Elephant and Tiger. Or those two to small...
