  1. Seems very historical ....

it DID suck to be a German soldier during daylight time with good weather with Jabos everywhere ....

he ordeal of the German Panzer-Lehr Division offers a good example of the fate awaiting German ground forces in Normandy. .... Air attack destroyed more than 200 vehicles on June 7 alone. Despite the rainy weather, which had threatened the Allies' landing on the beachhead, fighter-bombers continued to strike at the Panzer-Lehr Division, to the dismay of German soldiers who had hoped the worsening weather would offer some respite. This was just the beginning of an ordeal that would last throughout the French campaign; Panzer-Lehr was in for some more rough times in the near future.....

This division was by no means alone in its trials. The 2d SS Panzer Division Das Reich made its way from Toulouse to Normandy, .... Once the division crossed the Loire, it had a taste of real war; as Max Hastings relates,

. . . questing fighter bombers fell on them ceaselessly. The convoys of the
    Das Reich
were compelled to abandon daylight movement after Saumur and Tours and crawl northwards through the blackout. . . . [During a change of command] an Allied fighter bomber section smashed into the column, firing rockets and cannon. Within minutes . . . sixteen trucks and half-tracks were in flames. . . . Again and again, as they inched forward through the closely set Norman countryside, the tankmen were compelled to leap from their vehicles and seek cover beneath the hulls as fighter bombers attacked. Their only respite came at night.

  2. FANTASTIC !!!

2 Quick Battles just to get used to the system ...

the 2nd one ended with armor smoking all over the map with my one Sherman dashing around in a village trying to hide from and get in his sights 2 Panthers ...

he popped one in the side at VERY short range ...

it is un nerving how a Panther will leave your sight and all of a sudden pop up in your rear ...

Had a dead Marder explode minutes after being killed ... ammo explosion ? I only had one Sherman left and I didn't shoot the dead Marder ! :)

    Impressive game !!!

  3. Behold the vision of Nostradamus!!!

    :D

"Nostradamus prophesied in Century 10, Quatrain 67: "combattre la mission au-delĂ  de Normandie" shall rise from the battlefront on the day of the second full moon of Spring in the year of the "laden bin" collapsing.

Thus it must be a release date of May 17th."

    Good call .... 33% and counting ....

  4. As a matter of fact there shouldn't be any disc swapping. This wasn't the case with CMSF either :) It's just an install and you're good to go :) I have to say though that I have only used the download versions up until now.

I told my wife that I'm going to need a dedicated laptop for nothing BUT CM in all its variations , mods , modules , outside source scenarios ...

I still like the suggestion somebody had of mixing the CMSF units with CMBN ... modern units in the bocage ... with helo's and A10s ...

Gamers are never happy , eh ?

Love you all at BF !!

  5. ...they totally ruin the immersion and destroy tactics that would most likely work in real life.

That's EXACTLY what happened in Normandy !

American infantry commanders soon realized that normal tactical maneuvers were impossible in the Bocage

yep , damn Bocage ruined the American tactical plan ...

Unable to use normal techniques of fire and maneuver, American commanders were also powerless to influence the battle with increased firepower. Heavy vegetation and the close proximity of the German defenders made it impossible to bring forward and set up heavy machine guns. Company commanders used their organic 60-mm mortars in an attempt to knock out German machine-gun positions. However, the hedgerows and the close combat conditions made the observation and adjustment of mortar and artillery fire almost impossible.

also may explain why the indirect mortars seem to fall willy nilly ??

These soldiers are crouching behind bushes on top of a hedgerow ... definitely not easily maneuvered terrain ...

Feels as though BF has the "feel" for the battle as the reports I've read "feel"
