  1. Can I obtain a cd without all the manual and packaging at a reduced price?

For all you guys with CDRW's take heed. Make a backup copy of your cd (for only your own use should something happen to your original of course). I am a poor idiot who did not and now am paying the price. I have a terminal scratch and can not play and must get another original. I got one of those reconditioners and it still doesnot work. I am so bummed. (actually it does not work at all on my desktop, but I can get it to work in about 1 out of 15-20 tries on my laptop, but that is getting to be way to painful. :(:(:(

....and mine is the day my grandfather introduced me to Pappy Boyington at an airshow at Fairchild AFB. The years have passed but I still can remeber that day with perfect clarity.

  4. Speaking of urban warfare, anyone here done any recent urban warfare training? I was wondering how they are teaching soldiers now days to take out defenders and move around in an urban environment. I've read that it was typical for a 3:1 loss ratio when taking defended positions. It was learned the hard way to stay out of the streets and use explosives to knock out the wall of the building across the street and then make a dash. I've been to a couple of QCB schools (geared to LE) and I watch on on TV soldiers being taught the same type of tactics. Fine for law enfocement where you (hopefully) won't be going against a prepared defense and don't want to involve civilians or but in an all-out fire fight it could be suicide.

  5. My .02,

I agree with the whole multiple mistake line,

but for me the top of the list was Hitlers decision to halt all R&D after the first blush of success in the ETO. Those of you in the know correct me please. If memory serves it was from mid '41 to late '42 there was no research and development. Imagine a couple of squadrons of 262s in the skys of late 42 early 43. So much for air superiority any where for the allies.

  6. Reading on the fuses and flares post got me to thinking on spot lights and their use on the battlefield. I've read in a couple of places about the use of arial spotlights to light a battle. The Russians would aim at cloud cover and the light would bounce back and diffuse enough to operate with at ground level. I think one source was Ryans book on the battle for Berlin. The Russians tried a variation on their old trick and pointed their lights onto the german line to try and blind them. Was anything like that tried elsewhere?

  7. Sorry if this has been hashed over. Did a search and found nothing.

My concern is overusage of ammo.

    1) I assaulted the houses in VoT with flamethrower and he flamed it with first burst. Then proceeded to expend entire supply on the already burning house. Shouldn't he have stopped?

    2) Sometimes when I lay suppressive fire with arty I forget to tell my spotter to stop and waste alot of ammo. (my fault I know)

Is there a way to tell your men to use X amount of ammo/then lay off? I would like to tell spotter to lay X amount of ammo just before I assault a position. Same for smoke rounds.

Sorry if this has come up before or if i'm just missing a command somewhere.
