Hey thats good cool.gif ! So its a pretty good bet most of the folks if not all that downloaded bought the game. I'll be conservative ans say 25,000 sales in the bag right now. We need to sell at least another 25k copies to ensure a sequel huh? But I dont think that will be a problem when the reviews come out smile.gif

    Here's one little gauge:

The Combat Mission HQ Annex (at the Gamers Net) is sponsoring a "Combat Mission Meta Campaign" to create a role-playing command environment between multiple players.

It's not often talked about here, but insofar, about 200 players have already signed up (with about 20 gamemasters or GM's) before they've even had CM to play with.

So 220 people bought the game? Hmm i think we need more confused.gif

  4. I dont see the problem with a player quitting even in the first turn if he/she wants to. I think it could be fairly argued

that there should even be a "battlefield

integrity" rule in most cases where one side, withdraws from battle when losses reach a certain percentage. That was a feature of ASL I believe which was after all part of the original concept of CM and its not only realistic but needed with exceptions only for certain "fanatical" units that may be compelled to fight to the last man i.e. SS, Japanese, certain Soviet units and perhaps U.S. Marines and Finns in 1939/40. Also it is a game after all, I am in it for enjoyment, not to be humiliated.

I dont see a problem with quitting anytime in the game as long as the player concedes defeat and acknowledges the opposing player as the victor.

  5. I am a big fan of the Steel Panthers series, and am enjoying SPWAW very much.

I just played a North Africa scenario called

"Knightsbridge" based on the actual engagement. I played Brits against the AI Germans. It was a slugfest of a game, heavy losses on both sides. In the end the Germans came out with a marginal victory. Not sure but I may have done slightly better then the U.K. forces historically did. The AI does seem to be improved a little bit, or I could be a little rusty or both. Anyway I like it.. I am on to Kursk for my next battle. When I get CM I will probably split time with both games. smile.gif

Well do you have a Barnes and Noble book store in the area? They have some fine books on the war, perhaps you could pick up one. Or try your local library. I am sure there is excellent literature for your reading pleasure there too and its free. Or how about going to one of the numerous department stores and check out the magazine stand? wink.gif

I already asked about medals. guess you cant get them. Would have been a nice touch.

As for me the next time I learn anything regarding CM will be when Combat Simulations puts out an article that it has been released or the alert email BTS sends me periodically.

I won't be returning to this message board anymore frown.gif

My feelings regarding the change is a loud and definate BOOOO!

GRRRRrrr! mad.gif well Steve asked me to tone it down so I guess i better. All I can say is sorry you feel that way WarDogz and

remember to mind the Door/Ass axiom. wink.gif

Armorbuff, while I understand and agree with you point point (i.e. trying to snuff out a baseless rummor), I ask you to tone it down in the future. Barbarossa didn't mean anything evil in his post. Even if he had, I can deal with it just fine wink.gif

Duly noted. Sorry to create a ruckus. Those !!! and mad.gif 's can make a person display more emotion then was actually experienced I guess. I'll try to contain it redface.gif

I'm sorry that I have upset you so. I was simply asking a general question. It sounds to me that you're more stressed out about the release of CM than I am. I have been waiting around a year for this game and can certainly wait a "coupla" or "several" more weeks ...

    Barbarossa

No you didnt upset me. These darn message boards always make people sound exagerated one way or the other. rolleyes.gif I have been awaiting the game about a year also.Am I more stressed than you about it? Probably.

Do I need prozac? Maybe. Got some? Anyways

looks like Steve has straightened out everyone on the matter.

  11.
quote:
Originally posted by Barbarossa:

If I'm not mistaken, we are experiencing a several week delay in the release of CM because of some unforeseen problems with the printing of the manual at the printers.

    Barbarossa

ALL RIGHT THATS IT!!! Some of you people are starting to REALLy Piss me OFF!!! mad.gif

Theres no "Several week Delay"!!! Its a coupla weeks at most!! Why dont you stop your damn whining and wait for it like everyone else??? Like the BTS folks intentionally delayed it, yeah right. They did it just to piss you off.

  12. Did you know the Germans had harems for their Aryan men to have relations with to make their perfect race? It would have been nice to incorporate this into CM players who get great scenario and operation scores to be rewarded with trips to these houses of pleasure, complete with exotic film footage of these encounters. Allied heros could have been similarly rewarded by visits to brothels in France , Belgium, Holland and maybe Germany towards the end. With again some film footage of these erotic encounters

cool.gif Also no one has mentioned this but can you get medals in the game? I want to win CMOH's and DSC's and Silver Stars. And If I play as Germans, I want Iron crosses and Knights Crosses etc for great games.

  13. Actually I think they pussed out a little bit in this area. It is a war simulation after all, they should have had pools of blood on the dead, and dying or wounded troops. There should be decapitated bodies, and just pieces of flesh where troops are blown to bits, Charred blackened bodies,

Hanging and stringy viscera should be evident with all the tension and horror of war...

  14. Hmm No manuals or Cds back in the warehouse yet. looks like it will be the first or second week of July before the game

ships. Hey that will be pretty cool, out for

the 4th of July maybe. Looks like I joined the forum about a month early. Usually when a much hoped for game is being developed I forget about it till it goes Gold, then the wait isnt so bad. I did that with FA/18

and European Air War. I am doing it with B17II also.

  15. "Yeah, but there are no other wargames on this scale and topic that can

even remotely compete with CM on a realism level (or graphics, or interface,

    for that matter)"

Well thats your opinion but using the same logic, one can say that CM cant compete

with certain other games for the same reasons. Its comparing apples and oranges.

CM excels at what it is trying to portray.

And other games excel at what they are simulating. To compare CM to Panzer Elite

(PE hereafter) is unfair. PE is a WW2 tank simulator, and its very good.

And you cant compare it with the Steel Panthers series (SP). SP has a certain board game feel, so whats wrong with that. ASL is a board game after all. And a lot of great detail. And the scenarios outcome is often comparable to its historical counterpart.

To me thats a true test of "realism". And I have personally found this series fun to play. So what we have is a variety. And to me thats a GOOD thing. I share everyones enthusiasm for CM. I am just trying to temper it with some objectivity.
