  1. Is there a comprehensive explanation of all the controls and actions you can take, the manual is quite spartan to say the least, could not figure out which was the missile system, finally did by trial and error, I am trying to muddle my way through this game, I would like to like it but am having a tough time with some of the control issues, but then I am an old guy 65 and have only been playing these silly games for 20 odd years. would using a joystick help any?

  2. David Aitken: I'm curious, I am fairly new to this forum and am wondering if you are one of the moderators? you speak in absolute terms, should not, will not, if you have the authority then close the discussions, if not, then I suggest you lighten up, these discussions are just that, discussions among fellow gamers and as such are fairly harmless to everyone, so relax, if you don't want to be a part of any particular thread, then don't participate.

  3. Roster, Yes. just my vote.

I am not sure I understand this I don't want it so you shouldn't either argument. As was previously mentioned, one of the downsides to some of the reviews of CM was a lack of an roster or OOB, so maybe BTS should look at it from a sales point of view (that is why they made the game in the first place and a damn good one at that) it might project into more sales and make it more accessable to those that don't want to hunt all day for that FO who keeps getting lost in the trees, or the team that got spooked and took off for parts unknown, I personally want to be able to find them when I want them, and if that makes me a bad guy, so be it. for the guys that don't want to use it, well, don't.

  4. playing night at Cheneux, 5 turns in, and playing the movie and my 75 mm spotter shows rested and he decides to take a walk out into the open and gets shot, not on my orders! then I click done and go to the next order phase, and find that I have a paratroop squad and a HQ with orders to move into the building on the right, and certain death, again not on my orders, what gives, I just installed latest patch and have not had this happem before now. anybody else have orders given by the Phantom?

  5. I can't even get torso down, I have an infantry unit crawl to the top of what I see as a ridge and the next thing I know GOD and everybody can see me and I'm getting my tail blown off. I am having a hard time wending my way through the 3D universe, so going hull down with a tank is a major undertaking, but, damn I'm having fun!!!!!! This has got to be the best strategy/sim/wargame/rpg, you name it, game there is!!!!!

  6. I am not sure what you mean by "doesn't look professional" It's a good site and my order and others were handled efficiently, the guys that run this operation are more helpful and responsive than any other site I have seen. besides it is the only way you can get the game, and believe me it is awesome and I don't use that word often.

  7. The manual says if one sides rating is 15% or less and the other side has at least four times as high there will be an automatic surrender unless the other side has reinforcements coming. In the scenario I described the ai morale was at 7% and mine was at 89% and they did not receive reinforcements, so I am at a loss to explain why they didn't bail out under what was a hopeless situation.

  8. I was playing the 28 turn scenario, a walk in paris as the allies (NO SPOILERS) I made some good guesses and had some luck, so by turn 20 I had taken all of the victory flags. The Germans had a morale of 8% and victory of 14%. I had 90% of my troops and tanks left, so the situation was well in hand. I searched and found an armored wagon and some crew members which I elimanated on the next two turns, the morale dropped to 7%, I then spent the next six turns capturing or elimanating some stray crews and routed squads, at the end of the scenario the German morale was still at 7% and victory at 14%. How do they calculate victory and morale? The computer said I had total victory. Is it possible to have 95% or 100%? What determines surrender conditions? Given the pitiful remains of the German forces, I would have surrendered long before the end. Just curious to see if anyone else has had this experience.

  9. In my experience it is best if you have multipule tanks as the allies, to expose them all at once, and give the German tanks with their slow traverse a moment of indecision and make them think just a moment longer about what they need to target, meanwhile your Shermans are banging away. BOOM!!!!!

  10. Steve, all of the above, the manual that ships with the game is very thorough and there is also a 15 turn tutorial that will lead you through the basics of the game. it is something to see when you hit playback and see the arty you have plotted hit at the ground level observation view, What a sight!!!!!!

  11. I kind of like the idea of a longer turn, maybe not 5 minutes but maybe 2, would give the sense of realism, in that you wouldn't have the ability to tweak your movements every minute, you make your decisions and have to live with it ( or die with it ) Oh well something to consider for CM 2.
