  1. I just migrated to a new PC with the specs below and re-licensed CMSF. I tried to play yesterday and it keeps crashing as soon as I click on a unit or the map. I searched the forum for minimum hardware specs, but couldn't find them. I looked at the Windows XP event viewer and it gave the following message.

"Faulting application cm shock force.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module atioglx2.dll, version 6.14.10.6747, fault address 0x0044b49b."

    My system specifications are:

    Dell inspiron 530

    Windows XP SP2

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600@2.40 GHz

ATI Radeon HD 2600XT video card,

    Driver version 8.402.0.0

    2GB RAM

It has crashed 5 straight times. I appreciate any help you folks might offer.

    Thanks!

  2. Per the instructions within Mapping Mission, I start the CMBB editor, verify that the resolutions between CMBB and Mapping Mission are the same and then CTL+ALT+DELETE to get back to my desktop. I then open Mapping Mission.

When I open up Mapping Mission I select "New Map" and then I am prompted for a size. I put in 100 x 100 (20m/tile) which is 2km x 2km. I then add some simple terrain from the tool palette and then export to CMMB. I then go back to the CMBB editor and can see that Mapping Mission is communicating with the CMMB editor because it creates a map that is 2km x 2km. The problem is that it will then start to put down the elevation size and just hang. With smaller maps when the elevation stage is complete then Mapping Mission then run the commands within CMBB to put down the terrain objects. This process works fine for 1km x 1km maps, but hangs on the 2km x2km maps. I think the largest I was able to do was 60 tiles by 60 tiles.

  3. I have downloaded Mapping Mission and it works fine for maps about 1km x 1km, but does not work for the 2km x 2km maps I want to make for CMC. I have an nVidia Ti 4200 graphics card and have installed the 30.82 drivers as recommended by the Mapping Mission README but this hasn't helped. Does anyone know what else I can do to make this work? I have read something about turning off the elevation display in CMBB editor, but couldn't figure out how to do that. I appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

  4. I searched on this topic and found nothing related so I thought I'd report something strange that happened this afternoon.I was play testing a user made scenario today to see what a destroyed bridge looked like. Artillery fire (14" Naval Guns) destroyed a wooden bridge and the graphic showed as expected, a destroyed wooden bridge. However, the very next turn the graphic changed to a destroyed stone bridge and remained that way. Very strange confused.gif. Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious.

  5. Schrullenhaft,

I am planning on getting a new video card just to play CM and was considering a Nvidia RIVA TNT2 Ultra based chipset card (Guillemot Maxi Gamer Xentor 32). I have read several of your posts related to the fog issue and you seem quite knowledgable on this subject. I infer that you have a TNT2 based card that is displaying fog properly in Combat Mission, correct? If so, are all the other effects working also such as transparent buildings, rain, smoke, etc. Just wanted to know before I buy a new card. I appreciate your help on this.

  6. No CM again today in SF Bay Area. mad.gifmad.gif Frustration is now leading to almost a loss of interest in the game altogether. I never thought I say that I would lose interest in this wonderful game, but this shipping roller coaster is emotionally draining. It is not just not having the game yet that is so frustrating, but the inability to even know for sure that it has even been shipped.

Not everybody that ordered in May of 2000 has it. From the numerous posts I have read it seems at I probably ordered at the worst time possible, early May 2000. It seems like they (fulfillment company) sent out by mistake a bunch of Mid May to release date preorders and those folks have already received the game. Then they realized their mistake and started to ship the orders in their proper sequence. That would make early May orders dead last. Sorry but just more venting. I certainly could be wrong in my assessment but that is how it seems to me right now.

  7. No CM again today here in the SF Bay Area, frustration is really setting in now. ARRRRGGGHHHH mad.gif I know that international customers have to wait alot longer than us Yanks, but I think they would be frustrated too if several of their neighbos 10 miles away had it and they still didn't. It wouldn't be as frustrating if I weren't reading posts of people who ordered a few weeks ago and already have it in the SF Bay Area, yet for some reason, I still don't. I'm beginning to think my order is one of the ones that Steve has said will inevitably get screwed up. Sorry, but I needed to vent!!

  8. I agree 100%. Nobody will get any copies from me. No copies, no piracy, not a single copy one to anyone. We must support the Herculean efforts of Charles and Steve and make sure they get all the money they deserve. I wish them much success with CM1 and those CM's to follow. I may even buy an extra copy of CM1 to in a small way help to further insure their success. Great work BTS and looking forward to playing CM1 soon.

  9. Steve, thank you for your clarification related to piracy. I had not even considered that point and I understand completely now. Lorak also made a good point about printing the manual being a chore. I was not trying to impune anyone with my inquiry nor start a baseless rumor. I thought I saw on this board, a post that if read between the lines one might construe to be a "several" week delay caused by the manual printing problem. That is why in my original post I qualified my statement with "If I'm not mistaken". Obviously I was mistaken. I was just curious as to why. You guys at BTS are to be congratulated on an outstanding game as well as support that is beyond anything I could ever hope for. By the way, the new explosions in the soon to be released patch look great. Keep up the great work guys.

  10. armorbuff:

I'm sorry that I have upset you so. I was simply asking a general question. It sounds to me that you're more stressed out about the release of CM than I am. I have been waiting around a year for this game and can certainly wait a "coupla" or "several" more weeks for this soon to be wargaming classic.

  11. If I'm not mistaken, we are experiencing a several week delay in the release of CM because of some unforeseen problems with the printing of the manual at the printers. I am just curious as to why the manual could not have been simply included on the CM CDROM and customers could have just printed the manual on their own printers at home like the Gold Demo instructions. Just curious.

  12. My "Ueber Squad" was a German SMG squad in the Reisberg scenario with 19 kills and no losses, and all in very close combat. It was amazing. As the Americans infiltrated the town I simply had the SMG squad hide in the back of the building they were in so as not to have them waste ammo on long range fire and give away their position. When ab American squad entered their building, the Americans always came in with just 1 squad so I was never overwhelmed. I then just cut them to pieces. I repeated this process several times then retreated to safety to preserve my no losses.

  13. Thanks Pham/Rod,

I had a feeling that the TV Out was probably not too good, but just wanted to make sure. I had a TV Out adapter years ago and the colors were washed out and the picture grainy. I just hoped that by now the TV Out had been improved. Guess the Lo-Definition TV is the problem here. I'll have to wait for the Hi-Def TV's to pursue this idea further.

  14. How do you use the engineers to breach barbed wire? I read a post that Steve made on 1/24/2000 that goes so for as to say that the satchel charges carried by the engineers will simulate using a bangalore torpedo. Yet when I take my engineers in VOT and have them area fire at close range on the barbed wire they simply use their rifles. No satchels are used and the wire is not breached. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have searched the archives here for direct answer to this and have not found the answer.

    Thanks!
