  1. After reading the anouncement of the new Mission Pack I've noticed that the "Random Battle Generator" is mentioned in relation with the included Uberpatch !!!

Or for example: "4 new „european style“ maps for multiplayer battles, the Random Battle Generator, or to create new missions in the editor."

But because for me (and surely for any one else) the in this Uberpatch included editor is just a "Quick Battle Generator" I'm slightly irritated with the description as a "Random" Battle Generator.

Sorry for this, but Battlefront should more closely watch what exactly they are writing to avoid such misunderstandings.

    Martin

PS: So no Mission Pack for me, because I play more self-created mini scenarios than the includes missions/campaigns.

  2. Hi there !

Can anybody tell me how the new Random Battle Generator from the Mission Pack works ?

And how does it compare/differ from the already existing Battle Generator ?

Maybe it would be worth purchasing the Mission Pack ?

Some hints and infos would be nice,

    Martin

  3. When playing Qucik Battles I prefer to buy my units.

But last time I played as the defender (allied probe) with 300 points and spend them on 4 units (Panther, Jagdpanzer, 88 AT and a Panzerschreck team).

After starting the QB only the Jagdpanther and the Panzerschreck team showed up (the Panther and the 88 were AWOL !

No red numbers while I bought the units, all were "on map", no sign of something that I did wrong.

And this happens every time I play QB !

Please tell me what I do wrong; or is it a bug ? Could not find anything via search in the forums so please drop some infos on this topic.

    Thanks,

    Martin

  4. Is it a bug or is it me not getting the meaning of the pause command.

I play WEGO only and came from the CMx games.

So thought that the pause command will function as a stacked command to coordinate your movement.

So I gave a move command to a loaded Stryker to the back of a building, gave him a 30 sec pause command to unload his grunts and then put him in reverse to take cover behind another building. The grunts got a move command to the first floor of the building and another to the roof.

So I thought, the striker will drive to the building, wait long enought to let the grunts out and into the building and then heading back to safety.

But the only thing what happended was that the Stryker AND the squad inside paused for 30 sec and after that he drove to the building and reversed immidiately (so the grunts had noc chance of disembarking the vehicle).

    Whats wrong here ?

First the pause command should be stackable and not just for the start of the 1 min turn.

And second it should not hinder the passengers to leave the stryker (maybe they were also effected by the pause command or it was just that the Stryker refused to lower the ramp).

For WEGO this pause command isn't very usable at all (maybe for the example from the manual to let some squads pass a road one after the other).

Please gimme some info if I'm doing something wrong or if the pause command is broken.

    Thanks,

    Martin

  5. Can someone explain, why my strikers (that one with the TOW's) won't fire them when spotting an enemy tank ?

Will I have a infantry squad on board with open hatches to serve the TOW or what.

Sorry for nat having any military background or knowledge of the US weapon systems, but I'm just an average casual gamer.

Thanks for any info about this,

    Martin

  6. Hi metalbrew,

I don't think that this single CPU affinity procedure has something to do with this problems (because my pc is soooo old, it has only one CPU to use) :-(

But this will also mainly be the cause that I haven't encountered one of the crashes or other technicals troubles which players with newer pc's are reporting.

I really think that this is only a pathfinding problem (or my xo is to fat to share the balcony with my commander) :)

    But thaks for the hint,

    Martin

  7. Has someone played the tiny map in QB with the mosque at one end of the map ?

Placed my grunts HQ up on the 5th floor (two man with TOW and a rifle) to watch for the bad guys (and get some with the TOW).

I nplacement mode at the beginning everything looked fine, but after starting the first turn, only my commander with the rifle stood there on the balcony and the XO with the TOW was suddenly on the roof of the mosque.

And there was no way to order them (both) back to the 5th floor. MUTINY !

    Greets,

    Martin

  8. Same here with my grunts.

Sometimes it helps to give them extremely precise orders.

My squad was sitting on a rooftop and no enemys nearby.

Ordered them to get to a house over the street, but even after three turnes they sat idle on the roof (sunbathing an d drinking pinacoladas ?).

Then I ordered them to move to the ground floor of the house they are occupying, then move out on the street, then over the street and into the ground floor of the new building. And then up to the roof.

And only now my dummies understood what I wanted them to do !

Give it a try the next time and tell me if it works for you, too.

    Greets,

    Martin

  9. Hello !

Some one else who discovered this "bug" ?

Please Battlefront, take some notice of this behaviour and try to fix it.

And about my whining and ranting: I love Combat Mission. I own all three titles and bought Shock Force, too (and will certainly buy the next product in the CM series).

So don't get me wrong if I criticize CMSF, becuase I still hope that Battlefront will get it right after some patches.

My only fear is, that the new CM will get away from the WEGO system and make way for RTS (which has pros and cons).

    Bye,

    Martin

  10. Same here with me !

Maybe this has something to do with overloading the squads ?

The first times I ordered my squad to take the javelin launcher and two missiles plus two M136.

After leaving the vehicle, getting in position and waisting two javelins I waited for the tanks to come nearer for my M136.

Only after the enemy tanks parked near my squad (wiggling their behinds to intimidate my squad I noticed that the M136's weren't there anymore.

Next time I firsttook only the javelins and after firing them I reentered my Bradley and took two M136's.

Then out and up the roof !

Up here my squad had only their rifles.

Maybe they sold them to some syrian merchands on their way up the stairs ?!

But this is only one of many annoying things I've encountered so far:

Pathfinding: "Driver ! 10m down the road !" - "Sir, we better take a shortcut around the block" (which means, he drives his stryker nonchalant into full view of 3 waiting enemy tanksThank you, driver.

Or try to blast a wall between to buildings to get your squad safe into the other house. What are my elite warriors doing ?Blast a big hole, then walk out the door and enter the other building from the front door (a very smart move if 10 syrian rifle squads pointing their guns at the doors).

Lazy units: ordering them to move is a gamble with a fifty/fifty chance of obeying the order (and even HQ's are playing games with me).

Hide orders are sometimes overlooked and not canceled with movement or sighting.

Ordered once a hiding Bradly to hunt into an unknown area. He stopped as he saw the enemy BMP, but didn't bother to shoot back. After a minute or so the ping-ping-ping of the riddling bulletts must have unnerved the gunner and he eventually opened up at the BMP.

Which leads me to "self preservation" or the lack of !

Driving my Bradley round the corner and noticing a big mean T-72. Maybe my crew were already praying or writing down their last will, but going in reverse or popping smoke seemed not logical to them ! "Oh, who pinned that "Shoot me" sign on our Bradley ?"

To whine over the Quick Battles will take the rest of the evening and so I stop ranting (for now).

Thanks for listening (I'm feeling much better now) and see you at the mosque.

    Bye,

    Martin

  11. Hi folks !

I have the same problem !

Just wanted to order a proper english version (I'm from germany, but prefer to play my games in the original language; the german translations really suck) from Battlefront.com and learned that I have to order my copy from CDV.But there is only the german version available and at the english part of the german CMBB website is the release date for other language versions tba !!!

I contactec CDV if it is possible to get an english version from them, but 'til now they haven't answered !

In the meantime I'll try the link from Bogdan and tell you the news if CDV answers my request !

    Bye,

    Martin

  12. Hey, you're not alone !

I think, this lock-ups really sucks (sorry, I hope this was no foul language), but I can't find any solution.

Besides this lock-ups, my ATI RAGE 128 can't display night or fog frown.gif

    My system is:

    Pentium III 500

    128 MB RAM

    ATI RAGE 128

    YAMAHA 0nboard sound device

    Logitech cordless wheelmouse

(Sorry, can't remember the drivers since I'm posting from work) wink.gif

Maybe you can find something that match in our systems.

Or maybe some hardware guru can help us !!!

    Bye,

    Soma

  13. Hi Joshu, you lucky SOB !!!

(Not meant to insult you, just a phrase to impress my feelings about your luck !!!) wink.gif

When have you ordered CM ?

I live here in Munich and ordered Dec 1999, but no CM yet !!!! frown.gif

Sieht so aus, als ob es hier im Forum doch mehr "Krauts" gibt, als ich dachte !!!

Viel Spass, wenn's dann mal ankommt !

    Soma.

  14. Soma as a username is neither war-related, nor very innovativ smile.gif

It's simple the first two letters of my girlfriends and mine first name:

SOnja (ladies first) + MArtin = SOMA

A soma is also a part of a cell (if I recall my biology lessons correctly).

The other way round it would be more sex-related, and because I really hate pain, I took the more scientific name wink.gif

Years ago I used the nickname "Bud Wiser", but as a non-beer-drinker I thought it didn't fit very well (and the other guys here in germany didn't even know this label).

That's all folks (hmmmm, Porky Pig also would make a fitting username) wink.gif

  15. Yep, as a big fan of BTS and their games I've ordered already.

BTW, I like (and own) them all:

Flight Commander II (simple graphics, but a joy to play)

Over the Reich (gone is the long range combat of FC II, but another beauty)

Achtung Spitfire (sort of a simple version of "Battle of Britain" already included)

Carry on guys, and Westwood, Sierra, Eidos, etc. are history ! wink.gif
