  1. no "safe" in corners. Windows boots into the "safemode" resolution and colours, without the option to alter them.

rebooted and tried the scandisk thru the "mycomputer C drive/properties method" and the scandisk reported a msdos prog (sounded like ms access)to be too long. When i said ignore and continue it hung shortly afterwards.

Tried the msdos prompt "scanreg /restore" but got "bad command or file missing" error message(tried different combos of spacing with no joy- was in C:\ prompt, main root at the time).

What seemed to cause the thing to crash in the first place was a duplicated and corrupted txt file in word. (This was deleted) but 15 minutes after doing this and continuing with the "uncorrupted" txt file the system hung, screen went black ad pc stopped.

Now when trying to reboot win95 almost gets to open fully, looks like most of the tray icons have loaded, when it reboots again. Sometimes it runs scandisk , sometimes it doesn't. Odd

On the occasion when it does fully load i am still in the "safe mode" config without the safemode warning flags, someone called it "software mode".

Looks like i am going to have to call out an expensive engineer fellas?

  2. after suffering a crash in win95 i chose start in safe mode, knowing that i could shut down the pc properly from there. Unfortunately, the pc now thinks that "normal mode" is safe mode. I have no clue how to get out of this, assuming it is possible. In view of the helpful advice re techno stuff given out by this community, i am chancing my arm and hoping that i can get some kind sole to point me in the right direction, thanks, chris

  4. in my opinion YES. My friend also took look at the game and wasn't too impressed, "too difficult".

However I showed him the moves and the choices of orders available and soon he was enthralled by the game. The large, easy to read manual that comes with the game should give you the same help as i did for my mate.

If not there are dozens of ppl on here that will help you out, just browse the board (hamsters and borgs even help out on occasion)

Not only that but the incredible amount of modifications available make this game well worth getting.

  5. simple answer OGSF= try em out. It's a personal taste thing. I have both and like em.

Before you unzip a tiger mod, or anyone elses, look at the bitmap numbers. There are not usually many for a vehicle.

Copy the identical numbers from the bitmap folder of CM proper to a safe (and memorable) place on your machine.

Then go ahead and install the mod by unzipping it into CM bitmaps folder.

If you like the look of the mod in the game, great. If not, simply copy back your saved bitmap files, no harm done.

  6. Was playing a scenario hot seat , wont mention name, my troops see enemy halftrack but when I clicked on the halftrack it gave away the ambush point of the said halftrack. Not the ambush circle but the line leading from the halftrack which was labelled "ambush" (might have been labelled "ambush marker" actually, I wasn't going to post any comment then thought I had better)

I think this shouldn't really show, has anyone else seen it?

Think you have it the wrong way around my friend. CM doesn't issue driver updates. Your card manufacturer does that, or Nvidia too in your case. Check with them for the latest driver updates or hit search and type in Gforce or Nvidia to see other posts on this topic.

  8. updated to v.1.03. Is it me or is final score (showing the breakdown of forces) way higher than what seemed to actually happen, eg. only had ten vehicles per side but the final numbers shown add up to more than ten each side etc. Same with troops. Anyone else notice this or maybe the patch went wrong.

  9. Hi,I play solo quite a lot and am concerned at the lack of attention given to the solo side. Especially the campaign issue. I understand that human v human is the way to go but I would like to see some official comment on the state of the solo game. In particular, whether the campaign, as such, is the usual string of consecutive scenarios or if any attempt has been made to make it "dynamic". Do other folk share my concerns?

This has been the only thing stopping me advance ordering your otherwise , good sounding new game.
