  1. This game is gorgeous. But it is definitely lacking a VCR feature : in order to play efficiently I have to keep the zoom to a minimum ... losing at this "helicopter view" all the smart details of the animations... feeling as if I was playing my old "iron cross" back in 1994! Besides, as soon as I zoom to look at the beauty of the action, I am systematically caught off guard and slaugthered. I wisk I could play back the action, at the end of the battle, , from every point, with a genuine VCR feature (remember IL2!) ... then we would reach, for me, something close to perfection... Will this dream come true?
  2. Squad Leader From Avalon Hill WW II, Tactical Level board game, played on geomorphic maps that can be set together to depict just about any type of terrain in the world. Thousands of historical scenarios, involving every major and minor combatant have been published. Some 15 add-ons it boasts over 2000 playing pieces. 200+ pages of rules, 42 boards, and 60 or so charts make it the most complex war game in existence .and probably the best. </font>
  3. VCR function would be #1 on my christmas wishlist, I loved it some much on IL2 and CM!!
  4. Don't forget the Renault B1bis ... it is in the game already... hard to take them on without the 88's ... and the B1bis had a deadly 75mm. Without their 88s ...the Germans would have been in greater trouble in Abbeville in May40.
  5. Seems that a lot of people want to be born on D(ownload)-day! At least FaxisAxis, WarRaven, Sargon ... Being born on the 18th, I am afraid to say that I have the feeling I stand a greater chance than you guys! At the end of the day, april 18th is known in my country as "saint perfect"... might be the proper release date for TOW
  6. Hi everybody, Adrien, from France, I am 35 (and still amazed not to be the oldest around!). Been playing wargames for almost 20 years now. Started with board games (spent endless nights on Avalon Hill's Squad leader) and came to PC wargames asap (late 80's). I probably played all the WW2 RTS games I came across since then, always looking for realism and immersion "über alles". Close Combat and CM series are still ranking among my favorites to date. I have been looking for a "3D" variant of the almost pefect Close Combat for so long ... First I thought CM was it , but I disliked the way infantry squads were displayed (you know...not all soldiers shown...). I played IL2 and I followed the development of TOW from the very first hours ... Like many of you, I always had the feeling this one was THE one... We will finally find out together in a few days now !! ... (I purchased a complete new PC just to welcome it ! ) While waiting, for those looking for immersion in a realist WW2 environment, I recommend BF42's mod "Forgotten Hope". For me, it is to WW2 FPS what TOW should be to WW2 RTS. P.S. : I have been following up this Forum in silence for several months now. Thanks to this post it was fun to know more about some of you from whom we've been reading for a while now ... May be we'll make "Camerone" together in a forthcoming TOW MP session? Cordialement votre,
