Which Faust guys..? If you mean the SCHRECK team, then you're suggesting that the German Federal Archive sold BFC a re-enactment photo. The photographer's name was Vorpahl and the shot was taken for a Wehrmacht Propaganda Company somewhere near Narva, Estonia in August-September 1944. There are more Panzerschreck photos in that same set. So, not re-enactment. Someone out there probably could even give the exact unit and names of the men.

And of course it is posed. Do you think that they would be letting a photographer stand in their front if a Soviet T-34 was actually coming toward them? :P

I was hopeful someone with too much time on their hands would post the photo;s of each screen shot here so that we would be sure of what all is in the game, then we could even keep tally as to how often it comes up. I really think it is just random, with no true favorites.

But I am suer glad BF placed so many good photo's into the load file and have them, hope they add more in the modules. One thing I hated about the earlier CMX2 games was the screen photo used.

Unless someone beats me to it, I might take up this project later today and post the pics here. I could do it pretty quickly with the QB system set up for a short load and FRAPS.

You can just un-BRZ the data files. The Allied backgrounds are:

1. 60mm mortar team

2. something, maybe M10 heavily covered with foliage, on a road

3. two Stuarts entering Avranches

4. Stuart in a battle damaged city street

5. M10 climbing onto road

6. a column of G.I's in a city alley

7. a Stuart with Rhino attachment, a G.I. running across the road

8. some G.I's taking cover behind a street corner

9. a Sherman with 76mm gun

10. watercooled M1917 HMG

11. two Shermans overwatching a field, pillars of smoke in the distance

And for Axis:

1. two PzKpfw IV's (according to photo information they belong to 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitler-Jugend", this is taken in Belgium during an inspection in early 1944)

2. Marder III (France May 1944)

3. a Panther parked in a town's central square (Belgium June 1944, LSAH)

4. a group of German officers looking at something, maybe porn or a crossword puzzle (no other information than it's northern France 1944)

5. a Panther driving on road (just somewhere in France summer 1944)

6. a march column of young looking Landsers (June 1944)

7. a StuG with foliage in a narrow street (June 1944)

8. that Panzerschreck team (Estonia 1944)

When I first started playing the game I saw the allied #6 all the time, I was tired of it. Now I cannot remember the last time I saw it and I am playing three pbem games all playing allies.

And #7 Allies has never come up on my machine much. I barely remember it because it is listed here. So I think it is totally random as to which is selected in these list.

Wow thanks posting for the definitive list: it looks like I missed only one: the stuart-with-rhino picture. Now you mention it, I reckon I have seen that once.

It is bizarre how there are some of these that hardly ever pop up, and how it is that the distribution is different for different people. Some wacky old random number generator BFC have :)

I think #7 is actually a Jagdpanzer IV.

For some reason - probably the mantlet shape - I think that it's a Chaffee.

Apparently the guy in the middle is Hasso von Manteufel. I have it on good authority that it's a Suduko they're looking at.

In most of the pics, there is so much detail - and you end up looking at it for so long - that I usually find some new little thing to study, even when I've already seen the image loads of times. The group of squaddies advancing down the alley is a good example - how they wear their kit, the way they're all holding their weapons really low, they've all got bayonets fixed (why?), that muppet at the back stomping across the corrugated iron (noise discipline!), how the rubble catters about the streets, the way the different buildings have been constructed, etc.

The one with the GIs shooting around a street corner is interesting too - the lack of kit and claggage hanging off them is surprising. Most of them only have a water bottle, and nothing else.

I am still waiting for someone to replicate each one in the game, and post a matching screenshot.

Don't make me waste a weekend...

:D

I actually tried to do that with the pic of the Stuarts driving into Avranches. But I wasn´t able to get too many of the elements right - so I let it rest.
