The single piece of advice

After playing CMSF for a very long time and improving my tactics by experience, if I had to single out one central piece of tactical advice on planning and executing battles, this is the one:

- Always try to do the kills from as far away as possible -

But that will expose the firing position. In some cases, it's dangerous.

I assume playing a typical scenario Blue attacking Red-Syrians (the advice is for blue of course)

This is something I'm learning the hard way, after having started out with CMBN and then gotten CMSF. Using your riflemen in the latter seem to be a last resort whereas it is crucial in the former.
