Crash-Neptune
I have a severe problem, When I launch CMBO, I get a screen that flashes something about setting graphics mode. The screen looks cut in half diagonally. What do I do? Anyone?
Schrullenhaft
If you can see and click on the 'Skip' button, do so. Apparently the resolution/refresh rate that CM is attempting to use on your monitor is too high. Hopefully the next resolution/refresh rate should be more compatible. If you're unable to click on the 'Skip' button, you should just let the screen sit there for a few seconds and it should attempt the next lower resolution/refresh rate automatically.
Crash-Neptune
All but one of the screens are choppy. Probably because I'm running CMBO on a laptop. Think the LCD screen has anything to do with it? If Neccesary, I'll "Borrow" a moniter from my other computer.
Schrullenhaft
I know LCD displays on laptops tend to prefer one 'native' resolution over all others (typically 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768). CMBO uses DirectX on the PC and the resolutions and refresh rates that are available are 'tried out' on your system, starting with the current resolution (but possibly a higher refresh rate). I'm not sure how 'intelligent' some video chips are in regards to driving an LCD display compared to an external CRT display. Any resolution other than the native one for the LCD results in 'scaling' which makes the screen look a bit funky, but still usable. The one screen that doesn't look choppy is probably your LCD display's native resolution and is what you'll need to select. If you want a different resolution, then you'll probably need to hook up an external CRT monitor (and preferably disable the internal LCD display to save memory for 3D textures, etc.).
Crash-Neptune
Well the game is now working, but there is a flicker problem with the mouse. It's there, but most of the time it cant be seen. On the field, it flickers badly. Now what?
Schrullenhaft
This may be an unavoidable effect of your video drivers. To minimize the possible problems with your mouse cursor make sure that you're using the 'default' or 'Windows standard' set of mouse pointers, since custom cursors can cause problems. if you're running any sort of mouse utility that modifies the cursor, you'll probably want to not load it when you're playing CM.
Crash-Neptune
Here's 2 things that may (Probably) pertain. 1. I DO have the standard windows mouse 2. I have the ATI RAGE 128 video set. The second is mentioned in the manuel and At the moment I'm looking it up. I'll see what that does.
Schrullenhaft
On a laptop the ATI Rage 128 issue isn't a problem since it is built into the motherboard of the laptop and should be compatible with the chipset. You will want to get the latest video driver, which may help things a bit. For a laptop you'll usually have to get it from the laptop manufacturer's site since it mostly likely should be a portable version of the Rage chipset (a Rage Mobility ?). If you're using a generic clone laptop there is a possibility that it may be a standard Rage 128, in which case you could use the latest drivers from ATI's website. The 'standard mouse' I'm speaking of is actually the pointers, but it is good to know that you're running the standard driver that is included with Windows since this should typically reduce the possibilities of incompatible mouse drivers. When I speak of pointers you should go to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse control panel > Pointers tab > Schemes drop down dialog. This should be set to 'None' or 'Windows Standard'. The other schemes have the possibility of causing corruption in CM (and it may be involved in your 'disappearing' cursor).
Crash-Neptune
Well, The game is working fine now. I do have the slowdowns on the Action Replay, but I'm guessing that's my hardware limitations. (400Mhz Celeron Prosc. 32mb ram) Thanks for the help
