sonar
Hi, will engineers, be able to detect mines without a vehicle having to blow itself up first? If not, then what if any capabilities will they have to distingush them from ordinary infantry? Cheers
Gpig
They should still be able to "Mark" mines. (Make the area safe for follow-on infantry to travel through mined area.) They have demolition charges. Good for blasting bunkers, walls/buildings, tanks and men. And hopefully wire and other obstacles. They usually tote about the flamethrowers, as well. (Though not in the first release of CMBN)
sonar
But can they detect mines in an area, before a vehicle has set one off, i.e. you see a road into a village, is it mined ? Will my engineers be able to find and mark mines or do I have to drive something down the road and lose a vehicle just to determine if the road is mined or not?
Jonny(FGM)
I would guess yes. Mine detecting takes a long time, probably out of the scope of a CM battle to do it
joethejet
Say, just curious, I was playing a battle with Engineers against tanks (among other weapons) how far away to the engineers have to be from a tank to use their demo packs? This is in CMAK. thanks, Jet
Kanonier Reichmann
In answer to your CMAK question, 30 metres or less. Regards KR
joethejet
Thanks KR. I knew it was pretty close, but I thought that the tank had come close enough. They might have been too scared (not that I blame them!) Jet
Jonny(FGM)
Yeah it takes engineers a little while to ready the charge. Having low suppression and good combat and morale modifiers with their HQ helps a lot
