The first game uses the OpenGL graphics API, while the latter two use DirectX. The first game does not allow for fighting from/within buildings, while the later two do. The first game covers quite a few more theaters, while the later two cover more specific theaters (North Africa 1943 and Ukraine 1943 and 44/45 with the latest patch). The first game has issues using its editors in 64-bit versions of Windows. There are some workarounds for that problem, but they may not always work.
