Running CM on OS 9 non classic after X install (separate HD's)

Recommended Posts

I have OS 9 and OS X on separate HD's which works nicely. This lets me use CM and other non X compatible games and software when I use OS 9 as my start up OS.

When running CM in 9 (not classic) everthing looks and sounds fine in the game except I get a strange HD sound coming from the computer, the sound is like a "rat-tat......rat-tat......rat-tat....rat tat...." and so on. This goes on and on without stop. I played a few rounds of a game maybe 5 turns or so and the noise continued steadily. I am wondering if anybody has had this problem running with the same setup?

Do you get this hard drive sound doing anything else on this computer (under OS 9.x) ? It almost sounds like the hard drive is doing a thermal recalc or is having problems seeking.

You may want to run whatever disk utilities you have on this hard drive. Depending on your partitioning/formatting software, you may be able to turn off certain features of your hard drive that may be contributing to the sound that you're hearing.

If you know the exact manufacturer, model and serial number you may want to email the drive manufacturer's support and see if they have any answers.
