[Mein Legend] SC-GC, the Rise of Rambo VI

No I prefer the 2x strike for a variety of reasons. You don't want that many units clogging things up, for one, nor should their attacks be that strong either, which making them cheaper also does. I am going to also have the more standard fighters for minor nations because they are representing more mixed air forces (some fighters with some bombers included) so they are a bit better at ground stikes but have only one strike.

Thenn again - it does not stop anything as long as you have escorts, so I am not sure if it helps. I wonder if you get 2 escorts if they have 2 strikes?

Now I can't even get any escorts to work - do escorts not happen under some circumstances?

So what's your plan for the CVs Nup? IMO they should be at 0 for SA and TA so they only get that random hit on ground units due to the + or - 1 mechanism. I like the way David includes the light carriers with only one strike representing their reduced plane numbers.

If you could somehow grant the CAGs an ability to accumulate experience, tweak their evasion or ???, then they would be much more effective towards the end game at ground attacks, as actually happened.

Of course you are going to have anti-air units...right? Unfortunately they're a must with the current game conditions, I hope you'll allow a plentiful build limit for all sides, then you can keep the CAGs and TACs as effective as they are now.

The escort thing is another facet that needs improvement. Escorts should be bounced and bombers take losses when encountering interceptors with greater strength, tech, morale and readiness. I do believe they'll get a double escort with the dual strike feature. But....what the hay, I'm just the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room.;)

Yes my CVs are already 0 for both. I also increased most ground units to 2 carrier defense, so attacking ground units is possibly but pricy for carriers.

I am still debating the 2x fighter strike because I am not having a clear idea of how the escort works. It doesnt always seem to work and I dont jknow why.

Ah... maybe it is a bug? Hubert - remember how minors of inactive majors would not intercept? I think that same rule is causing the german fighters not to escort vs french fighters. That was the error I found as I was testing vs. the french fighter. - let me go test to see

yep - bug - will report

Back to debate (see conversation with Snowstorm and Seamonkey a few posts back). If Axis does not bring its subs out until 42 then UK has accumulated a lot of MPP. Also by 42 US Navy will be able to assist soon. In the games I'm playing I find UK has more resources thanks its colonies and this is translating into useful gear and tech.

I'm not saying you are wrong that delaying to 1942 with L3 subs is a good Axis strategy but that is a lot of MPP for Germany too that could be spent in Russia. I do think ASW for UK is more critical than it used to be.

Think its just a bit early to claim there is a cookie cutter strategy given there are more options in GC but we do need those Rambo and other experienced players to destruct test play balance.

I quite agree, Colin. In the strategy you mentioned I believe anti-sub tech is the way to go. However, it may not work as well under different strategies/scenarios that may occur. There really isn't a strategy that works under all conditions, but under this one, it may (especially if one turns off the diplomacy option).

I tried earlier to post the cookie-cutter approach as I've been a witness to, but for some reason I'm having problems putting up a post of more that a couple of sentences, not sure why.

But just for contemplating, imagine...that with the Italians' access to the Atlantic, Spain-Gibraltar Axis, at the beginning of 1942, the Axis navy can be composed of 6 BBs, 6 CAs, and 12 subs.

From Seamonkey: "But just for contemplating, imagine...that with the Italians' access to the Atlantic, Spain-Gibraltar Axis, at the beginning of 1942, the Axis navy can be composed of 6 BBs, 6 CAs, and 12 subs."

OK - so Axis have got Spain one way or another and built U-boats. Presume Middle East is Axis or at least contained. UK has similar numbers of Battleships in Europe, some cruisers, around 6+ destroyers (I think accepting Lend Lease is compulsory) and FOUR carriers. These are full double strike enabled with upgrades in LR air and Naval warfare if UK has any sense.

I think Axis still win but at a big cost. But its a huge effort and I think Barbarossa suffers. Meanwhile the US has seen all this and can plan its move and technology.

Furthermore this assumes UK is not proactive earlier. I'm in a game where the Strasborg was nailed the turn it was placed and one sub is down. UK can try for a showdown before the Axis are ready and the British will see this strategy coming.

I might AAR a game in progress with Santini - frankly I'm not sure it will prove me right but its an example of an aggressive UK trying not to allow your Axis scenario to happen. I'm not saying you are wrong but we have not mined counter strategies enough to know and without Terif and Rambo are going to have to work this out for ourselves ;-)

If i had a game against an Axis player who never used his subs, than i would build 2-3 subs on my own.

a) i would have the money, thanked through unmolested convoys

B) i would fear Operation Sealion (Seelöwe)

and i would do everything to strengthen my navy, air tech / range

And with the upcoming patch i'll have just another BIG help as well, if i choose so.

:)

Subs can hit that Norwegian convoy too.

Also - though this is totally gamey and needs to be eliminated - subs are very useful for finding other subs and blocking them in hunt mode - given their mutual immunity. As others have noted, subs should always be silent vs other subs.

If this truley is the case about Germany then whynot jack-up Allied industrial might to its true level? Then it would be quite possible to simply overwhelm the Germans.

Or do what SeaMonkey says about the A.A.features or when you start a game just have a rule or change it so you can only upgrade your Tac bombers to level 2 or even just level 1.
