Or maybe not. How does the ai determine if to build a warship? And, if so, which one?

The system for deciding what to build is pretty complicated. It may not be weighing the various factors very well. I'll have to take a look at it and see if it's producing the units that it should be producing.

And yet one more question (for now).

Does the ai know to set up escorts? For example, will a fighter join a bomber or two in the group? Will a destroyer join a battleship to protect against subs? After I play a couple of games I'm going to tweak the ruleset and bb will not do well against ss at all.

Yes, the AI isn't good about putting together battle groups. The AI will use aircraft carriers as landing nodes for aircraft, but it's not very good about using them, either.

There doesn't seem to be any way to edit posts so I have to keep making additional ones.

The reason I ask is that if they are not improvable then it would be a good idea to set up a solo ruleset and leave off paratroops and carriers. And setup SS and BB in a way that would make sense for the ai to use better (similar to the current setup).

If they can be improved, then may I suggest they be put rather high in the list like maybe right below fixing bugs?

Ok, I remember you mentioned that the ai doesn't handle paratroops well.

They don't handle battle groups or carriers well.

Are these all on your list to improve or are they not improvable?

No, they are certainly improvable.

I'm not sure if your interface is the same as mine, but I have an 'edit' button in the lower right corner of each of my comments.

No edit button for me. Maybe if I was using a decent browser instead of internet explorer it would.

Um,....... nm - you already answered this and I totally missed it.

Edit: Now there's one. I swear it wasn't there before. I really swear.

Edit again. I just checked, it's not on my other posts. Just this one. Very weird.
