tiger123
Using the disc from the hard copy of CMSF I get the following message after the the install and before the game runs.. "Application failed to initialise properly (oxc0000005) The game worked fine on old system. Not played for a year so so - in the meantime bought new computer. OS is XP. 32bit Nvidia drivers. Not most recent but work well on all other games. Used both the downloaded file and the hardcopy disk. Not got as far as to put in license code. Any ideas???
Schrullenhaft
It sounds like you may need to enable DEP (Data Execution Prevention) in Windows XP and then make some exceptions for CMSF and related programs. Read this Battlefront Knowledgebase article on DEP and hopefully it should get you running again. The 'Runservice.exe' file will not exist on your system until you successfully license the game (it is downloaded automatically at that time).
tiger123
Did as you suggested-just changed the DEP setting and all seems OK. Reinstall carried on as it should and the game started. Thankyou. Never heard of DEP before. Now I know.
