Win2K graphics glitch

Recommended Posts

I am running Windows 2000 Professional on a PIII 550, 256 ram, and a ATI Rage 128 GL AGP card. CM installs just perky fine, however, when I attempted to play the game, I get strange graphics.

The best way to describe it is like it is trying to draw the sunlight , with multicolored (rainbow?) rays coming from the top of the screen down to the ground. It's sort of like viewing it through a prism.

My first thought is that it's DirectX problems, however all the things I can find indicate that DirectX 7 is included with the Windows 2000 Professional installation, but I haven't been able to find proof of that (in fact some of my drivers seem to indicate it is DirectX 5, but there's no way I can find to update those).

Any advice? Thanks!

Jon

Apparently the ATI drivers that come with Windows 2000 are imperfect. I suggest trying out some of these from ATI's website. I assume your Rage 128 is not a PRO version.

ATI W2K drivers:

I don't know if these are any newer than what is posted on ATI's site (they have different designations):

Rage 3D (drivers listed in box at upper right corner):
