Pete Wenman
Been playing around with the Brits, but on four occasions clicking the mouse or pushing a button (both on keyboard and UI) has turned the computer off. It's like the power button is turned off. PC turns off in an instant and when restarted advises it was closed down incorrectly. Computer is working fine otherwise, I never had this problem before, and its only happening when running CMSF with the Brits. Any help appreciated PS Brits look great from what I've seen
nimrod260472
I've got the same problem - after a random time playing (1min - 5min) my PC bluescreens and restarts. I played with the Marines Module before and never had any problems Sven
theFightingSeabee
Are you guys using your old keymaps? It is my understanding that you shouldn't. Maybe that's it.
Pete Wenman
Are you guys using your old keymaps? No never bothered with that, I've always used the default keymap.
Skinnedpuppy
Sounds like an overheating or graphics card issue to me, tried updating your graphics divers and cleaning the dust out of your case interior?
nimrod260472
Na, never had any problems with overheating of my rig. And I can play Version 1.10 (with Marines) without any problems.
Redwolf
There is a huge difference between instant off and a bluescreen. Posting "got a bluescreen" without the error message should be a criminal act punishable by jail. If it turns off right away it's not heat, obviously it needs some time to cook. If it killed itself on a mouse click or keystroke it's not heat either.
Pete Wenman
A quick note just to say my problem has not been repeated since the first day. I wonder if it had something to do with a windows update that occured the same day. Regardless I'm now good to go
Pete Wenman
Sad to say the problem is back. The whole computer has turned off twice tonight, each time on a mouse click. One a rewind action view, the other when attempting to save, so you can imagine how frustrating that was.

flamingknives
Computer spec? What sort of map were you running? Is it a specific scenario? Forces on screen? Activity (firefight, trundling around, not doing much, cresting a ridge and finding an entire Guards army on the other side) Any consistency with what you are clicking on? I'm surprised that something an application does could insta-quit a CPU.
Elmar Bijlsma
Actually, computers can switch off or reboot as a result of a system error. It's pretty scary when it happens. It can be turned off with System Properties>Advanced>Start & recovery thing. (Or sumfink, I use a Dutch XP version) You might want to switch it off to see if you get a BSOD instead and what kind it is.
Redwolf
Well, if it always happens right on a mouseclick, never anywhere else, then it is definitely a screwed up Windoze install, either from bad drivers or from malware. I thought it is beeing, doesn't switch right off?
Kat Johnston
Could you have a look in the event log (Type eventvwr in the Run box will launch it), and see if Windows is getting the chance to add any error messages? (I'm guessing it won't have, if the machine has insta-quit like that, but it's worth checking.)
