r0jj
Hi, When I play my current game turn I am no longer hearing the sounds of the battle although I seem to still be hearing the ambient sounds. When I first installed the full version of CM I was not having this problem. I recently installed the Madmatt Mod Packs (1 and 2) from CMHQ and some new grass textures and think this may have coincided with the sound disappearance. Having searched this forum I came accross a similar problem reported for a Mac user where the problem was solved by increasing the memory made available to the game. I am currently running on a P11-300 PC with 196mB of RAM and about 256mb of virtual memory. Any suggestions as to what I can tweak to get the sound back? I will try reinstalling the old textures to see how that goes, but I would eventually like to be using the mod-packs. Dom.

Guest Madmatt
He means the SHift-S sound setting but if you say you can hear background sounnd but NOT the battle sounds then I doubt that is what it is. Give it a try though just to be sure. Are you getting audio out of other games or apps? r0jj
Hi, Thanks for the suggestions but I figured it out last night The mod packs were actually a red herring as it turns out. I forgot that I upgraded to the 1.05 patch at the same time. I believe (from reading posts on this board) that the CD 1.03 CM version automatically sets the system volume to max, however this is no longer the case in 1.05. So all I had to do was go and crank up the volume in Windows and hey presto! I have yet to see what this'll do to my other apps, especially the windows start-up sounds which might be horrendously loud, though most apps have internal volume management so they may be fine. As for still hearing the background sounds, either I was hallucinating or I mistook the muffled, low volume, game sounds for ambient sounds.
