ArgusEye
I'm building a nice large town in the Scenario Builder for an operation. The work so far is proceeding nicely, but one thing is really obnoxious: some of the buildings that I place, and are shown on the map editor do not show up in the 3D view. Is this a bug? Is there a limit to the amount of buildings I can put on the map?
Joachim
You can't place buildings on/near slopes. The most annoying thing is "near" slopes, as you won't see them on the 2d map. Once the 3D-map creates a slight slope on the construction ground, the building vanishes. Gruß Joachim
ArgusEye
That has turned out to be exactly the problem. A hundred points for Joachim. Thank you! Unfortunately, 'Rubble' is not a terrain type, so my first impulse to replace the building with that has also failed. Too bad.
Joachim
You need good planning to get a city that looks realistic but still fits your intentions. Use different quarters on different heights. Small dispersed bldgs as suburbs on slopes and mostly flat terrain for the large stone bldgs. If you need slopes in the city center: Slopes in backyards or parks, maybe cemetaries. Using a road along the slope might work - but road traffic is slow then
ArgusEye
I've just accepted the inconvenience. It plays fine. Useful tips, though! Operations are quite a different experience from battles. The terrain becomes even more important when you have to keep moving the troops up.
