Very good Afghanistan fighting coverage on BBC World News tonight (Friday)

Recommended Posts

BBC News devoted considerable time in the program to updating fighting in Afghanistan, with great footage of armored Hummers, the Super Commando armored car (M?), MRAPs, etc. The reporter's under fire a good bit of the time. Even UAV support can't prevent roving mortar attacks, this the result of ROEs requiring that muzzle flashes be seen before strikes can be made into populated areas. Also shown is an interview with local Taliban commander, whose attire cries out for modder attention in CMSF. Unit appears to be entirely motorized via dirt bikes! That piece is followed by a Katty Kay interview with a U.S. Ranger, Craig Mullaney, who served there, is a Rhodes scholar, and is the author of THE UNFORGIVING MINUTE.
