I don't know what the frame rates are but it really slows down somewhat like the old slide show issue with CMSF. I have a pretty decent machine too. There are reports about unusual cpu usages (up to 40-60%, sometimes even higher) caused by a certain DLL running in the background. Microsoft tries to put this under the carpet, so they're offering the hotfix via email-support only. The hotfix can be obtained from sites like "itsvista.com" though. Microsoft advises to install the latest ServicePack, which sounds like they included the hotfix in SP1 or SP2, but I'm not sure, as I never checked the list of fixes included in those Packs. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935553/en-us You could also disable HDR and Ambience in your game's video settings, and see if this improves performance.
