CMBO and WindowsME

Recommended Posts

I have been playing CMBO on my old computer since the game was released, without anything but minor problems.

I have bought a new computer, Compaq Presario 5000, and am now having serious problems. The picture freeze, sometimes in an order sequence, and sometime in a film sequence. The sound is still there, and I can move the mouse cursor.

The new machine have the same graphics card as the old: NVIDIA GaForce2 GTS, and I have tried to use the same driver as I had on the old computer. I have tried all the trouble shooting advices I have been able to find, in the manual, and on this side, but without luck.

The only real diference I can come up with, from my old to my new computer, (apart from the faster processor and bigger machine) is that the old one was running win98, the new one is running WinME.

Is there a problem with CMBO and WinMe?

Did the Compaq come with the GeForce 2 or is that a card that you installed yourself ? Which drivers are you running for the GeForce and what version of DirectX do you have installed ? WindowsME comes with DirectX 7.1, so if you haven't installed DirectX yourself, then you may be using a different version than you were on your old machine.

What sound card/chip do you have in the Presario ? I assume it is different from the one in your old computer. Do you know if it shares an IRQ with your GeForce ?
