Uberdave
I just purchased CM: Beyond Overlord and Im enjoying it immensely. I have a problem tho...one of the other games on my system requires me to disable DirectDraw via the DxDiagnostic tool in Windows. I loaded CM:BO after forgetting to re-enable DirectDraw on my system, and I went ahead and told it to use software rendering. Now I'm screwed because I can't seem to figure out how to revert back to 3D mode in the game. Is there anything I can do to fix it, other than reinstalling??? I have an Athlon 1.0Mhz w/ 384 RAM and the GeForce FX5600 (latest drivers). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MikeT
Do you have DXDiag?? That can turn the direct features off and off. MikeT
Uberdave
Yes, Ive turned them off and back on and re-booted several times now. I ve also tried 'repairing' the install, then resorted to doing a full re-install of the game. Still, it boots up in software rendering mode. Is there anything I can do??? This is frustrating...
MikeT
Well, I hate to say this but I am in the same boat with Direct3D. It doesn't work and I cannot find a way to switch it back on. I am giving serious thought to a new PC. Dell 2.6 for $983, $28 a month. Don't want to, got enough bills now, but I am stuck. Uberdave
Well I seem to have fixed it. Seems the problem was the 'Combat Mission Preferences' file, a small one which is created after playing for the first time, needed to be manually deleted when re-installing. I think it probably holds the config info re:graphics options for the game.
tar
Generally deleting the preferences file is the first thing to try when there are resolution or other graphics configuration problems. You shouldn't have needed to reinstall. Just deleting he prefs file should have been enough.
