football87
Hello guys and gals, I recently bought CMSF:Marines (already had CMSF) and downloaded it on my notebook. I patched it with v1.11 and tried to load it. However, every time I try to load the game, I get an eLicense Control error. It states "in order to finish initializing, this application must first be run by a user with administrator privileges. Please contact your system administrator 5-2." Thus, I switched over to the administrator account on my computer, but still had no luck. I was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions. Thank you very much. Vista has a GMF ("great Microsoft feature") called UAC, or User Access Control. It's not enough to use the administrator account, you have to specifically set the game to "run as admin" in order for it to be able to do certain functions which Microsoft deems dangerous for your PC (like, uh, installing software) Please right-click, select properties and set "Run as admin". It's important that this is done the first time you run the game for it to properly install. If you do it now and still have problems, please uninstall and reinstall, and then set it to Run as admin.
football87
Moon, Thank you very much. Your advice/help fixed the situation. I was not aware that you actually had to set it as "run as admin." This is the first time that I have had this issue with Vista. Once again thank you very much. Sincerely, James
