ryddle
Ok, ok, I don't have a technical problem per se, however I want to avoid one. It turns out that through a little bit of happenstance (i.e. begging the wife) that I will be able to upgrade my home-office PC on September 20th...or whenever CMBB arrives. My question is. What video card should I get? I've heard of problems with not being able to see fog with some cards drivers, etc. i.e. what is used at BFC so the developers know that they have everything working %100? Hell, I might as well go all out, I just have to be able to do 1600x1200 @ >100Hz for when I code, and around the same for CMBB. Any suggestions? TIA, -R
StellarRat
The Gainward GeForce4 Ti200 card will support 1600x1200 at 120 hz. I just read it off the side of the box.
Schrullenhaft
The ATI line is the one that lacks fog features in CM. I don't know what video card Charles tests the PC code with. He may be using software emulation (SoftPC) and whatever ATI chip is in his G4 (thus no hardware rendering effects). I assume some of the duties for PC testing may be passed on to Madmatt, KwazyDog, Moon and Rune who typically run NVidia GeForce cards of several flavors. Among the GeForce4 family the 4200 or 4400 are the more cost effective cards. If you're into overclocking, the 4400 can probably be overclocked into the 4600's performance range.
