Problem with editing hotkeys.txt

When I edit the hotkeys.txt file to use only my chosen "direct" commands, CMSF crashes as soon as I try and use any of my chosen hotkeys. Replacing hotkeys.txt with the original makes the problem disappear.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Are they case sensitive? Do I need to ensure some or all commands have a hotkey assigned? I'm avoiding using all the keys I should avoid, as far as I know.
