Cuirassier Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Just wondering if the Soivets will employ commissars to 'enthuse' russian soldiers to fight more bravely.
Megakill Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I think there are such soldiers in the game, but definitely they don't shoot their own comrades in the back to increase morale
Andreas Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Do they give speeches and hold meetings to toughen the fighting spirit? How many sponsors does a young gunner need to get into the Komsomol? Will we be able to play through the ceremony of him being handed the membership card in real time? Will there be a regimental newspaper section that can be chosen, in which combat lessons are distributed and heroic tales told? Will soldiers who spend part of the battle reading it be better fighters? All the best Andreas

All the best Andreas yes for everything, plus we have a very detailed vodka-drinking simulation in between battles - everything in real time, takes hours )))
Andreas Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Is the Vodka included with the game? All the best Andreas
Arkel Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Originally posted by Andreas: Is the Vodka included with the game? All the best Andreas Yes, you get a free bottle with every order
ComradeP Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 It is from the 40's though, so you should not mind some fungi.
howardb Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Originally posted by ComradeP: It is from the 40's though, so you should not mind some fungi. You're not a vodka grog are you
Megakill Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Originally posted by Andreas: Is the Vodka included with the game? All the best Andreas actually I was just thinking about the "Vodka collectable edition"
Andreas Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Originally posted by ComradeP: It is from the 40's though, so you should not mind some fungi. If it has something growing on it, it ain't Vodka. You are confusing it with milk, a mistake easily made by the underage drinker. All the best Andreas

Nasdrovie !
BCW Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 The Wargame gos to 1945, right? If so are their Volksturm(German peoples army)units? [ August 09, 2006, 10:31 AM: Message edited by: BCW ]

Waycool Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 There can be one Kommisar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjqs2y6fiqI
Cuirassier Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 I think there are such soldiers in the game, but definitely they don't shoot their own comrades in the back to increase morale Why not? Surely the self inflicted destruction of one's forces by Commissars would be a great motivator and guarantee soviet victory. And wouldn't they shoot them in the front, since they will be running towards the Commissars after the failed human wave attempt.
BCW Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 This is a Volksturm unit...the word makes more sense if you know German. All men able bodied or not able bodied had to serve. Some were as young as 12. Large units of Volksturm were at the defence of Berlin. I'm Suprised you grogs didn't seem to know? [ August 09, 2006, 10:31 AM: Message edited by: BCW ]
PseudoSimonds Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Well, the uniforms in that painting may be correct but I think you'll find that Volkstrumm units were more commonly armed with the Ohrenschreck:

I'm Suprised you grogs didn't seem to know? Oh, see, from your spelling, we had no idea it was German you were on about. Are you sure that isn't Austrian or somefink? Maybe Finnish? Cause the picture you are showing is Volkssturm. Could you please stay on topic? We were discussing Viennese folk singers with English accents. You know - Volkstrumm?

Megakill Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Guys, you rock! Hilarious. I am glad that I read BF forum .

Andreas Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Originally posted by RMC: LOL. Volkstrumm must be Milwaukee Deutsch. It's Bavarian. It is a combination of two words, the High German Volk (meaning people) and the Bavarian Trumm, which means something big, as in 'Des is a trumm' (that's a big thing). In the combination Volkstrumm, it means a big thing belonging to the people, and was commonly used in Bavaria as a mocking term for Göring. All the best Andreas
