Fortress Europa - Almost Ready - Need Playtesters

Recommended Posts

The previously announced Fortress Europa, a hypothetical scenario depicting a war where Germany and Italy did everything right, is almost ready.

The AI version is in the final scripting stage, and then it will be available this weekend for SC 2 beta testers (only) to playtest. Send an email to paintman1066@hotmail.com or put your email here if you want a copy this weekend.

Features / Notes:

The scenario starts in 1943. Although it could technically go on forever, as time passses the American public will lose interest if no progress is made in liberating Europe. Thus, the Allies cannot sit still for too long, and must use diplomacy MMPs to keep the public behind a continued war. Eventually if they do not eject the Axis the public WILL demand peace, with this becoming inevitable by 1950.

Honch's excellent map is used, with some modifications.

The Axis control all of Europe, Russia to the Urals, and the middle east/africa.

The Russians have sued for peace and have a shattered army, but can rejoin if Allies use diplomacy.

England's government has retreated to Canada, but can rebuild their shattered army/navy. For game purposes, Canada and their units have been combined with the UK.

The Axis AI uses Garrison units instead of engineers. These are basically super-weak, super-slow corps.

The Allies can take a myraid amount of paths in defeating the Axis. They can even grab the Middle East oil fields and watch as the lack of oil suddenly chokes the Axis and especially Spanish economy.

Updated and very nice bitmaps to deal with technology past 1945.

Re-worked tech tree, requiring players to spread tech around a bit more and not specialize to the degree often seen.

Naval battles are MUCH MUCH MUCH more important now; carriers and naval techs are very important, adding a new dimension.

Variable neutral country behavior; fluctuations will occur in 5% of turns of all neutral country standings. Also, neutral countrieas may sense an impending invasion and act erractically.

The PvP version is lagging a little behind, and will probably be ready for playtest by the time patch 1.05 comes out.
