The 'Elves' are the deadliest warriors in all of Middle-earth, combining skill-at-arms with expertly fashioned wargear. They are proficient with swords, spears and bows, and are the bravest of all fighting troops .

WOOD ELVES

http://uk.games-workshop.com/elves/miniature-gallery/128/

woodelves_lg.jpg

Almost all 'Wood Elves' have been called to fight at some time or another, using their deadly skills with bow, spear, and blade in the defence of their homes. These Elvenkind do not wear armour, preferring instead to rely on stealth and manoeuvrability to win the day for them .

LORIEN ELF BOWMEN

http://uk.games-workshop.com/elves/miniature-gallery/28/

newimage.asp?Size=A&Img=213659

The 'Wood Elves' are more lightly armoured than their High Elf cousins, but like them they are proficient with swords, spears and bows and combine their skills at arms with great bravery .

'Haldir' is the vigilant Elf warrior whose watch over the boundaries of Lothlorien keeps the foul Orcs from intruding upon the realm of Celeborn and Galadriel. 'Celeborn' is one of the eldest of the Elves of Middle-earth, wise and powerful almost beyond comparison. his words have often proved crucial in the councils of the wise since the Last Alliance of Men and Elves.

How about a map of the U.S., maybe include some of Canada and some of Mexico, along with Cuba and some of the Islands. We could skip Alaska and Hawaii. I believe a small State like Iowa would be about 15 x 15 tiles.

This could be used for the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, plus use for Fortress America(old board game depicting the invasion of the U.S in modern times), as well as a 1950 what if where Germany won WWII and now invades the U.S.

The nasty, brutal 'Uruk-Hai' are a major threat to Middle-earth. Their crude armour hides the bestial visage that lurks beneath, but does not mask the fury of their actions. They attack in nigh unstoppable armies numbering in the thousands.

LORD OF THE NAZGUL_The 'Witch-King' of Angmar: NAZGUL_Also known as the BLACK RIDERS:

lord6.jpg

In J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy Middle-earth universe, the Nazgûl (from Black Speech Nazg (ring) and Gûl (wraith, spirit); Ringwraiths, sometimes written Ring-wraiths), also known as the Nine Riders or Black Riders (or simply the Nine), are evil servants of Sauron. They are first mentioned in his book The Lord of the Rings, first published in 1954-1955. The book refers to the Nazgûl as Sauron's "most terrible servants."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazg%C3%BBl

Second Age:_The nine Nazgûl arose as Sauron's most powerful servants in the Second Age of Middle-earth. It is said that three of the Nine were originally "great lords" of Númenor. They were all powerful mortal Men to whom Sauron each gave one of the nine Rings of Power. These proved to be their undoing:

Third Age:_They re-emerged around 1300, when the Lord of the Nazgûl, the Witch-king of Angmar, led Sauron's forces against the successor states of Arnor; Rhudaur, Cardolan and Arthedain. He was eventually defeated in battle in 1975 and returned to Mordor, gathering the other Nazgûl in preparation for the return of Sauron to that realm

DWARVES

http://uk.games-workshop.com/dwarves/

Like the Elves, the Dwarves are an elder race whose days are fading as Men come into prominence. In most other ways, however, the Dwarves are quite dissimilar from Elves. Where Elves are tall and gracefully spoken, Dwarves are short and gruff. Where Elves prefer to dwell in the forests of Middle-earth, the Dwarves carve their halls deep within the roots of the mountains and have holds in Erebor, the Iron Hills and the Ered Luin .

Elrond is old even amongst the immortal Elves, having fought against Sauron in an earlier age and seen the Ring taken by Isildur before it was lost. He is the master of Rivendell and the greatest amongst the wise of Middle-earth. Gil-Galad was the most mighty warrior of his age and the leader of the Elves in the Last Alliance of Men and Elves against Sauron. He fell in that battle but thanks to his sacrifice Sauron was defeated though not, alas, destroyed.

Lord of the Rings: Halbarad Dunadan

usacomicbooks_1909_210965089

Halbarad - Captain of the Dúnedain, Ranger of the North, leads the Grey company in their journey alongside Aragorn through the Paths of the Dead. Kinsman to Aragorn, Halbarad is his standard bearer and a fine warrior of courage and nobility who bears the banner of Arwen Evenstar in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Displaying a White Tree for Gondor, stars wrought of gems and a high crown of gold and mithril that was the sign of Elendil, the banner was a rallying point for the Men of the West during the final stages of the battle .

SHARKU AND GOTHMOG:

Like the characters on foot Sharku packs extra punch in combat and has access to extra points of Might, with the added advantage that he is mounted on a vicious and speedy Warg. Gothmog is even more formidable and gives the army of Mordor one of its greatest warriors and cunning tacticians; especially useful is his ability to countercharge any enemy character who calls an heroic charge after he has.

FOR THE FUTURE:

lotr-ringwraith-wip.jpg

One of the things Mark wishes to add to his force in the future is a second Nazgûl on Fell Beast (perhaps even the dreaded Witch-king of Angmar himself) .

Morannon_The Morannon, also called the Black Gate of Mordor, was originally a gate built by Sauron, the Dark Lord of Mordor, to prevent invasion at the gap between the Ered Lithui and the Ephel Duath. It was probably built with the power of the One Ring

BLACK GATE Location in MORDOR:The Black Gate that Sauron built across the entrance of the valley of Udûn, the only opening in the mountainous defences of his Black Land of Mordor.

BLACK_GATE_location_map_in_middle_earth.PNG

During the War of the Ring, the Army of the West, numbering some 6,000 men, arrived at the Black Gate with the intention of drawing the Eye of Sauron away from Mount Doom, to allow Frodo the Ringbearer to cast the One Ring into the Crack of Doom within it. This they achieved, and the Ring was destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom, following which the Black Gate and the Towers of Teeth immediately collapsed.

" One does not simply walk into Mordor. The Black Gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep - the Great Eye is ever watchful. And if, by some miracle, you slip past the Morannon, what then? There is nowhere to hide on the plain of Gorgoroth - it is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, dust - its very air is a poisonous fume. Not with an army of ten thousand men could you do this - it is folly - Boromir at the Council of Elrond. ."

Sap Will:_The victim's Will value is reduced to 0. The effect lasts for the remainder of the battle - although it can be increased by the Strengthen Will or Will of Iron magical powers.

Terrifying Aura:_This power enables the model to assume a terrifying aura. Once this power has been successfully cast, the model counts as terrifying to all enemies as long as he has at least 1 point of Will remaining. MORDOR TROLLS:

lotr-troll-armoured.jpg

The Trolls of Mordor are even larger and more aggressive than their stunted cousins who inhabit the caves of Middle-earth. These monsters of the battlefield are one of the best weapons in the arsenal of Mordor, capable of crushing almost any individual they come up against with their 3 Strength 7 attacks.

ORC CAPTAINS AND BANNERS:

lotr-orc-infantry-command.jpg

Not only are Orc Captains somewhat better in combat than their underlings but with their Might points they can be used either to kill large numbers of enemy troops or to initiate heroic moves and combats, allowing their troops to pick their fights and seize advantageous positions.

Gorbag!, Grishnákh! and Shagrat!,...bring a bit of variety to the force, as well as an extra point of Might over a normal captain of their race.

'NAZGÛL RIDER' ON 'FELL BEAST'...or 'FELL BEAST' is Carrying a 'RingWraith Dark-Rider':

lotr-ringwraith-mounted.jpg

Mark's force is often led into battle by one of the Ringwraiths mounted on a Fell Beast. The Nazgûl is not only a competent fighter but has also a range of magical powers to utilise, including the chance to Transfix its opponents, rendering even the most powerful of enemy characters temporarily useless.

MORDOR ORC URUK-HAI:

lotr-orc-infantry-uruks.jpg

Stronger and better in a fight than standard Orcs, the Uruk-hai make the perfect shock troops for an army of Mordor. Although they lack the different options available to the Uruk-hai of the White Hand this is no bad thing as you can concentrate on giving them the equipment most suited to what Uruk-hai do best - charging into combat with the enemy.

REGULAR ORCS WITH TWO HANDED WEAPONS:

These Orcs with double-handed axes are less likely to strike a blow than their more lightly equipped fellows, but the blows that do land are even more devastating. As such they make good troops to have in support of other Orcs.

REGULAR ORCS WITH BOWS AND SPEARS:

Orc archers are not particularly accurate, and their bows lack the impressive range of those wielded by other races, but they can harry an enemy who is unwilling to get up close - such as other archers.

howller ...Hello!...first of all!,...2ndly i don't really know how many faction's there are, however quite a few web-sites are listed in the discussion topic...that could be used to ascertain that!. I think personally what is most important is to include the main players...then amalgamate the remainder into some of the other main player's if necessary!.

HONCH ...was going to make this MOD and still might!, he recently bought a 'Battle for Middle Earth' board game in order to use it as a template to assist in the design for this MOD!.

I really really really believe that he would just love to have you help him out!.

The only problem right now is that everyone seem's to have gone quiet???,...a 'Summer Holidays' thing or what?. Anyway, please keep an eye out for HONCH and make contact with him!.

P.S. : On page 1 of this discussion is a PDF file illustrating a Battle for Middle Earth Wargame and it shows a lot, including all the major players, rules, Location start position's, Reinforcement Schedule's, military icons etc, etc!.

Please go over all the posting's carefully, checking each & every link, then you will have a very good idea of what this project will or can involve!. This will not be a simple MOD to make,...and so as well...i offer my services to search for specific information, Characters, Abilities of so said Characters, Maps, Building Constructions, etc, etc!.

I think i have laid a pretty good foundation of useful usable information, and will work at it as needed to bring it up to where it need's to be as required by HONCH & perhap's yourself as well!.

Actually, I have already started the map and localization changes.

The tough part will be the unit bitmaps, I need:

Infantry for Gondor, Rohan, Mordor (Orcs), Isengard (Orcs), Rhun, Dunland, Khand, Harad/Umbar, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits and Men of the North.

Cavalry for Gondor, Rohan, Mordor (Warg Riders), Isengard (Warg Riders), Rhun, Harad/Umbar and Men of the North.

Elite Forces for Gondor (Knights), Mordor (Great Uruks and Trolls), Isengard (Uruk-Hai), Harad/Umbar (Olpihants), Rhun (Wainriders), Ents, Nazgul, Dead Men and Goblins, Men of the North (Rangers).

The flags should be easy and HQs will be changed to Hero Units such as Aragorn, Gandalf, Elrond, Sauruman, Gothmog etc.

I will also need bitmaps for cities, strongholds/castles and villages. The scenario will start after the break up of the fellowship with event scripts to trigger the Ents, Dead Men, Ring Movement etc.

If you know any sources, let me know. I have tried my files from Battle for Middle Earth One and Two but they are all in file types that I don't know, unlike SC2 which are bitmaps.
