Thick Fog @ Night Spotting Bug

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I think I've found a bug. In this save there is a German Assault Gun in the middle of the screen (marked with a German Cross) which is out of LOS at the beginning of the turn. Hit GO and when the AFV in question starts moving it is immediately spotted. I see this kind of thing all the time with Thick Fog at Night. Thanks!

robo,

I am currently playing a game that takes place at night in the fog, and I haven't seen this happen. In fact visibility is <30m and I haven't seen even a sound contact from my opponent.

What version of the game is your save from 1.05?

I tried out the movie and the Stug started moving toward the American infantry. It eventually became visible, but the Unit Info for it was still "Assault Gun ?" though the graphic was a Stug III (which I believe is the generic unit for an assault gun).

I'll have to give this over to people who've paid more detailed attention as to what CM should be capable of in such a situation. It is my belief that this ISN'T a bug, but some extrapolation between a sound/visible contact that is obscured, but not completely out of LOS (despite LOS tool measurements).

(For anyone else that tries to download this scenario - make sure you use Explorer. Netscape, even with the "Save Target" right-click, will download a scenario that will lock up CM with the "ding" sound when you try to load it.)
