YankeeDog Posted July 2, 2007 Share Posted July 2, 2007 Ya they actually hit 2 coalition planes in GWII, IIRC. I think the second was a US plane. Maybe an F-18? Also off the top of my head, the Patriots in GWII managed to down 11/11 incoming missiles they targetted. So they may have been a bit trigger-happy, but they did hit what they were supposed to as well. I think the friendly incidents had to do with problems with the IFF system; either planes were emitting the wrong signal, or the Patriot batteries' control systems weren't recognizing it correctly.
