General_solomon
How difficult would it be to create a WWII mod with the new engine.
Dogface
It would be impossible. One neat feature on this board is the function.
David Chapuis
puppyface, do you just keep that on your clipboard ready to paste?
Dogface
Hell no David, I host it (and made it I'm proud to say). I will admit however that I had to ssh to the box and locate it before I posted. It has been a while since I used it.
MikeyD
Modern weapons are so NOT WWII weapons that even trying a reasonable faximile would be pretty much impossible. Grenade launchers, ATGMs, body armor, 125mm tank cannons firing missiles, etc etc. The good news is getting a WWII game will be pretty much a subtractive process. BFC will just have to 'unplug' the modern stuff - and do alot of work on getting decent AT gun animations - and get the game engine to 'do' water - and a thousand other little things. But at least they won't have to start over entirely from-scratch.

MikeyD
Oh, and about using the search button. I've said this before (you can do a search on it ) - if we restricted this board only to topics that hadn't been covered before the place would soon be frickin' empty of posters!
Foobar
Why do a search, when i can have forum rats serve as a human FAQ for my every random query? Searches are just so impersonal... Oh, and will we be able to use the Merkava in CMSF? I cant remember....
Nick Schieben
> 6How difficult would it be to create a WWII mod with the new engine. > That was my expectation when I purchased CMAK. The next would be CM2 but then they went and spoiled it by announcing they were sick of WW2. Oh well... I'm sure this series will be great, please let me know, since I'm not in the least f'in bit interested.
Foobar
Dont get discouraged Nick, There are enough of us out there, that I am SURE you will see some creative user mods out there. I was one of the hold-outs about the new series, but it should hold some very interesting gameplay suprises for us.
C'Rogers
Random question brought on by the search picture; how long ago was it that the "post a poll" option was removed?
Dogface
well when I look at the original copy of the search.jpg I see a date of Jul 20 2002. So I would guess sometime between then and now.
Nick Schieben
Perhaps they'll offer me a discount when I trade in my CMAK. That quickly became shelwfare although I must admit CMBB stayed on my system until about 6 months ago. I guess the saying " Familiarity breeds contempt" rings true, although I thought that only applied to granny! OK thats it, no more whingeing about this - I'm over it. Had to vent, that's all. Oh well, I guess it might be a bit of fun laying down some tough love on the ****es of the desert I'll have some side armour with that Stryker please!
