JasonC
I had two different experiences. My old desktop is an AMD Athlon 3200 running XP, 1 gig of RAM, with a maybe 3 year old graphics card. Installed the demo, game crashed loading the training scenario. Second time I got to the set up phase, then it crashed again as I moved the camera around. I am sure it was the card not the CPU. So instead I loaded it onto my newer laptop, which is a Core 2 Duo, 2x2.00 GHz CPU with 2 gig of RAM plus a GeForce 7300 video card. This is a Vista machine, incidentally. There it ran well, rock stable and fast executions and frame rate etc. You will want a modern computer, and especially a modern and up to date "driven" video card, is my advice.
JasonC
I note from other responses and my own mixed experience that GeForce cards seem to "play well" with this game...
Stirling
Demo scenarios play splendidly with this: P4 2.8 512MB RAM FX5500 256MB XP Home SP2 1024x768 Models-Improved Textures-Balanced AA-On Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I can probably go up a notch on models and/or textures if I stick to tiny QBs (which is my plan).
