John Kettler
Well, I'd thought the whole show was going to be on the Stryker, but not even close. The segment which was presented was pretty good, though, and showed many of the family members (colonel interviewed said ten existed), including the battalion CP, the ambulance, interior shots of what may've been a mortar vehicle (had some sort of rotary magazine), the infantry carrier, the TOW carrier, and a bunch of great shots of the MGS (on the move and firing even perpendicular to the hull). Also shown were the remote sight display for the Ma Deuce and the computer tactical displays which tie the Strykers to each other and higher HQs. Armor was quoted as being basically .50 cal proof (actually 14.5mm!) and made of lightweight ceramic. Stryker's extraordinary mobility and quietness were fully depicted. No ERA or slat add-on armor was shown. Another segment was on the M1-A2 SEP. Visuals were great, but the VO was arguably deceptive. Tank was described as being made of steel, no discussion was given of Silver Bullet or distinguishing CITV, impression was given that HE round had MV of 800 fps. Four million dollar cost, astronomic fuel consumption, smooth riding suspension, 50mph top speed, and full gun stabilization were discussed and demoed where applicable.
