Junglist
Well, I'm not really sure what to think about the short time I was playing today. First off, Kim2, sorry for taking the hermes you were using for cover, not once, but twice. I could try to explain the reasoning behind why I did this, but I have a feeling you're not too interested in why. So from now on, no matter how it might affect the final outcome of the game, I won't touch any vehicles you have in your escort.
152mmDumbRocket
Well, someone put down mines around their flag when Jung, Ani, and I went to take it on Boiling Point today. Phonan and jby have plead innocent, and I believe them. So that leaves orenmn. Oren_m, mines are disallowed on CTF games under the New Geneva Space Viking Convention, as they are unfair against the fast units used in CTF. Don't worry, we know you're new, so no one here will bite your head off. (Incidentally, the reason I believed jby is he's practically the founder of the New Geneva Space Viking Convention.) __Yossarian0815[jby]
Well, there can´t be any good games if there aren´t games like yesterday My connection was a bit stuttery--> I had quite some problems steering the shrikes in CTF. I bumped the new geneva space convention thread. Other than that, for a more efficient battle, please don´t waste turrets. The only kind of game where all turrets can/should be placed in the setup phase is CTF (IMHO). I wrote a paragraph on turrets on the wiki, but that appears to be dead again . The gist: turrets are mainly short range weapons. Placing them in the open makes them easilly destroyable by long range fire of all kinds. And welcome to Multiplayer Zengentoo! Junglist
Incidentally, the reason I believed jby is he's practically the founder of the New Geneva Space Viking Convention. I'm pretty sure I actually coined the term New Geneva Space Viking Convention, to refer to the Dropteam dos and don'ts. Not that it really matters, but after being called a newb yesterday by Kim I feel a need to reassert myself a bit. Anyway, I'm glad I did rejoin yesterday as we had a bit of fun at least, despite the connection issues. One thing I'm not too happy about though is the large number of ctf games in rotation right now. As most of you will agree, objective and territory are a lot more "like war" than any ctf game will ever be. Like geez, even the dam and the beach are set to ctf and those maps are just too big to be chasing a flag around.
__Yossarian0815[jby]
Yes, new geneva space convention is definitely 100% Jung! As for real (!) DT ancients, I only joined after 1.00, never played the beta demo. I believe Jung and Poesel are of beta demo vintage.
poesel
'demo vintage'... sounds like cheap old wine Other old-timers still somewhat alive would be Redcon, Toby Haynes and the Squidlord. Btw, the Wiki is not dead. Why do you think so jby?
__Yossarian0815[jby]
er, um, must of clicked the wrong bookmark or somefink my turret wisdom: http://dropteam.johalla.de/moin.cgi/Ground_Turret just thought of a good name for a DropTeam clan: Demolition Vintage
152mmDumbRocket
Written in the DT Wiki Use turrets for defending objects, placing them at random over the map is ineffective. That's the way I use turrets. Posted by jby just thought of a good name for a DropTeam clan: Demolition Vintage Great name! Am I considered vintage? Just wondering if I was eligible. Posted by Jung As most of you will agree, objective and territory are a lot more "like war" than any ctf game will ever be. Like geez, even the dam and the beach are set to ctf and those maps are just too big to be chasing a flag around. I agree about the amount of CTF right now. I can't believe The Dam is set to CTF right now, what was Clay thinking? Still, we might want to try The Dam in CTF. I've done it in standalone, and it's not that far between the flags. There's just a lot of other space to hide in. And there's some real hills.

152mmDumbRocket
I almost forgot to say this, but I've never met Toby or SquidLord online. I've met Redcon, though, and he's tough. When he owned my cutter with that 6000 meter shot last Sunday-how many meters was it precisely? Posted by Jung I'm pretty sure Ithai was around from demo times too and he still shows sometimes. Yeah, he still does, but at least he does so more often than Redcon.

152mmDumbRocket
It sure was fun today, sneaking around on House to House and capturing right under Jung's nose! kim2 didn't show up. We met this guy named Schturm. It was his first time online, but he was quite experienced from LAN matches. I checked, and I can't find him in the forums. He said he played with his coworkers after work. Now if only he can get everyone else at work to come online! Players today: Me Jung jby Ithai Phonan ZenGentoo (Aniruddha) Schturm Did I miss anyone? __Yossarian0815[jby]
Sorry bout the *****in and moaning on Raid, but the bots were incorrigible. But I won´t dwell on that...(eyes the row of little bot-dolls with needles in them) House to house was a damn close game.
Junglist
So it's voodoo for them this time, eh? No more summary executions on your Live-Ship jby? House to house was a great battle - it was a handful trying to keep track of both of you guys on that map. _______________________ "Victory is a melange of desserts created by a long war in the kitchen."
