Sivodsi
You should check out Dropteam though - it runs on OSX as well as the new Intel Macs, and we'll be announcing a WW2 mod for it soon, too. quoth Moon Holy Crap! Things are getting real confusing round here.
konstantine
I wonder if one will have to pay for it, a la CMSF modular add-ons. Not that I'd mind. Let's see...M10 versus Thor = Apollo vs Tiger.
Sivodsi
ATGM vs Tiger?
Jalinth
Sounds like Gear Krieg. It's got Tigers with ATGMs. And Walkers. And Telsa Cannons on the Maginot line. Not to mention Nazi Zombies. Sounds like got material for a mod to me!
Alexander SquidLord Williams
I thought I was the last DP9 fanboy left on Earth, Jalinth.
ClaytoniousRex
Heh. No sci-fi Wermacht walking tanks here, I'm afraid. Just a very accurate simulation of tactical combat in western Europe.
Alexander SquidLord Williams
Er, but can we just get a few walking tanks, maybe? Or at least some bits put in to make modding them in easy?
Sivodsi
wow, that's official then. When is it due out? Will it be sold as an expansion pack of dropteam, or as a standalone?
ClaytoniousRex
An official announcement will be released very soon that will answer these questions specifically.
Sivodsi
... and the next question: when is the cold war mod coming out? Want to see T55s vs centurians!
aittam
ok a plain question: what about osx support for others battlefront incoming games?
ClaytoniousRex
That's up to each developer, Aittam. Throughout the industry in general, most developers aren't insane enough to do it.

Sivodsi
Good for multiplayer reaction freaks. I always get killed too quickly to be an asset on any team. Is there a role for tea maker? Will there be scenarios for single play? Campaigns even?
MikeyD
With most other game developers I'd have to imagine the WWII version would come out 'eventually'. But the Drop Team infantry upgrade appeared so amazingly fast that there's no telling how SOON a WWII version may appear.
konstantine
Looks interesting but it doesn't mention price.
Alexander SquidLord Williams
An interesting idea, given that the models and combat process should be compatible with standard DropTeam is the idea of doing a full-bore crossover, with the DT units representing alien invaders and the combined WWII units an ad hoc defense force. They would, of course, have vastly superior numbers and inferior technology. "Guess we picked the wrong time to invade, sarge."
civdiv
I want to refight my Civilization battles in first person! You know, the ones where the cavalry dudes killed your M1 Abrams with sabers!
Battlefront.com
Hehe... I loved taking Musket guys and wiping out Roman legion units As Clay said, the two environments will not be mixable. I don't think it would be terribly fun after a few games. Me thinks the first time something like a Tiger is popped by Shirke there would be customer outrage about how the Tiger could realy survive a hit from a Shrike's ATGM. You guys are sooooo predictable Steve

ClaytoniousRex
$$$$$$$$$$$$????????????????Aittam, it's 100% free for people who already own a retail copy of DropTeam prior to its release. So you already own it. We're still evaluating how this will affect pricing *after* its release.
yurch
Wow. Not what I was expecting. Hope this doesn't limit development to the original too much though...
