Nvidia rivia 128 problems

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm having some problems with my system.I'm running a PII 266 with a nVidia Rivia 128 graphics card. I'm getting hard crashes during or shortly after setup.

I've been looking around on the web for newer drivers for my card, but I haven't found anything (although I did find some articles that suggested nVidia had discontinued support for this line). Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Alex

Does the crash occur at a consistent point during setup ? Is it when you are moving around the battlefield or clicking the "Go" button ?

The latest drivers I could find for the Riva 128 series are v. 4.11.01 (assuming that they're English). If these don't work, let me know and there are some other sites that are posting 3.37 drivers. What vesion of DirectX do you have installed ?

Riva 128/128ZX drivers:

What motherboard do you have and have you downloaded drivers for its chipset (unless it is an Intel-based chipset, then it should be unnecessary) ?

Thanks for the help. I'm getting crashes at several points:

after the scenario loads but before the battlefield is displayed;

the first time I change the view (using the numeric hotkeys);

when I move around the battlefield with my cursor;

and once, while it skipped all of that, it crashed 18 seconds into the first turn.

The crashes invariably force me to reboot completely -- the system stops responding to ctrl-alt-del.

I'll look into the site you suggested, and check my version of Directx while I'm at it.

The motherboard is an intel board I believe, but I can check for that as well.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have some news to report.

Thank you very much.

Alex
